Journey DVD At Best Buy!

I assume this is just the Vegas show being thrown in to a re-packaged "Greatest Hits" (original), or is this the re-recorded version??? I guess Wal-Mart only has the exclusive on "Revelation".

I'm looking at the ad right now. It says Greatest Hits CD + DVD 1978-1997 Collector's Fan Pack. I think it is the original greatest hits cd packaged with the Greatest Hits DVD. The cover is almost exactly the same as the Greatest Hits DVD.

If anything, it's the record label trying to capitalize and ride the coattails of Journey's latest promotion efforts for Revelation. The live versions of the Houston concert songs sound like crap on the greatest hits DVD. it is amazing how much better it sounds on the the stand alone DVD of the Houston concert. I also wish they would have used the live version of Don't stop Believing they would air on MTV from the Tokyo show, best performance of that song ever. It was the 3rd show of the tour and Steves voice was fresh. Also they should have used the Captured version of lights from the Departure video. Try to get the 3 bootleg concerts from Japan from 80,81,and 83 and you will have the best greatest hits compilation ever when it comes to Journey

As best as I can tell, this is a repackaging of stuff he did in 2006. Most likely, the stuff is just unsold surplus stock sitting in the Sony warehouses. Out of his own mouth in the GQ interview, he's happy about not being at Sony and is more interested in internet distribution for his potential new music, so where's his incentive?

1998, Remember Me is released then right away out pops GHL and GH+5.
2001 Arrival drops and WAIT!! Here comes Steve on BTM talking about THINKING of touring he doesn't know how many times a day. The 2001 DVD comes out and then out pops Essentials. Hm.
Red13's being put together, hm so is the GH DVD.
2005 Generations comes out, then suddenly there's sp hitching his wagon to the white sox and putting out Houston.
After (as we've been told) turning down interview after interview over the years, he suddenly sees fit to weigh in with an announcement that he's planning his latest album in GQ magazine in the same article the band's being featured on their singer and new record.


I'm not saying he has no right to do this shit, but lons, PLEASE don't piss down our backs and tell is it's raining. His timing is deliberate.

He's not a company man at Sony. He's an individual who, at one time, had a distribution contract with them. That's all.

If you knew anything about the entertainment industry, you'd know that companies seek to capitalize on others advertising and promotion campaigns. What you (frighteningly) tout above is a calendar list highlighting their practices. This is no different than walking into blockbuster and suddenly finding tons of (indi) pirate movies on the shelf just as Disney was promoting the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie in theaters.

Journey does not have a contract at Sony anymore. Revelation is an indi deal so Sony is seeking to capitalize on the promotion Journey is doing for their Walmart release so they can (hopefully) move some of their own back stock on the Perry era material. Hence the collection to make it more enticing.
