Perry has no involvement in what the record label does with the product in their warehouses. His involvement was limited to the remastering of the material. If anything, it's the record label trying to capitalize and ride the coattails of Journey's latest promotion efforts for Revelation. No different than the double CD package of Escape and Frontiers remastered albums I picked up at Walmart yesterday.

Are you sure he's not dangling the decade old promise of "new music" in front of Sony for this small favor?

Uh, wait, TheNobleCause.
That's all myth, just a matter of uncanny timing on Garbo's part.
1992 the boxset comes up, up fire the many sundry FTLOSM sessions. Unfortunately due to the glacial pace of his writing, this one SEEMS less obvious.
1998, Remember Me is released then right away out pops GHL and GH+5.
2001 Arrival drops and WAIT!! Here comes Steve on BTM talking about THINKING of touring he doesn't know how many times a day. The 2001 DVD comes out and then out pops Essentials. Hm.
Red13's being put together, hm so is the GH DVD.
2005 Generations comes out, then suddenly there's sp hitching his wagon to the white sox and putting out Houston.
After (as we've been told) turning down interview after interview over the years, he suddenly sees fit to weigh in with an announcement that he's planning his latest album in GQ magazine in the same article the band's being featured on their singer and new record.
I'm not saying he has no right to do this shit, but lons, PLEASE don't piss down our backs and tell is it's raining. His timing is deliberate.

You guys are nuts, you know that? Dudette, this has nothing to do with Perry. Perry has no control over when a product is released or if it's released at all. Case in point: "against the wall". He's not a company man at Sony. He's an individual who, at one time, had a distribution contract with them. That's all.
If you knew anything about the entertainment industry, you'd know that companies seek to capitalize on others advertising and promotion campaigns. What you (frighteningly) tout above is a calendar list highlighting their practices. This is no different than walking into blockbuster and suddenly finding tons of (indi) pirate movies on the shelf just as Disney was promoting the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie in theaters.
Journey does not have a contract at Sony anymore. Revelation is an indi deal so Sony is seeking to capitalize on the promotion Journey is doing for their Walmart release so they can (hopefully) move some of their own back stock on the Perry era material. Hence the collection to make it more enticing.
Take some Xanax and give it a rest, will you?
