JSS maybe..but ten years on I've yet to locate the mysterious 'unique style' of Steve Augeri.

listen to Tall Stories and Generations back to back. The Generations vocals vary a bit, maybe because there were 15 years in between, but given the differences in the bands, you should be able to hear the similarity in style, especially on the uptempo rock songs.

That being said, where is the mysterious unique style of Steve Perry? Is it the very smooth Infinity, the rougher Frontiers, the motown-applied-to-rock feel of Street Talk/Raised on Radio, or the breathy style of FTLOSM/TBF? VERY few singers over 20 years are going to have the exact same sound--John Farnham maybe being one of the very few exceptions.

Augeri has his own style, but it's nowhere near as domineering as someone like Perry. I'll give you that.

Journey's new singer

Postby Sharon45 » Fri Jun 06, 2008 5:50 am

I only have 2 questions.

How long do you think the new guy will last?

Why can't Journey find a singer who DOESN'T sound like Steve Perry?

Personally, I loved Steve Augeri, and I'm still pissed that they let him go. The new cd is really good though. Just my opinion.

they found a singer who didnt sing like Perry, they didnt want him, although he got good reveiws.I think they want to play it safe.Ill can never forget how things went with Steve A, they ended up a whole tour without a singer anyway. They should have took that break in 2004. Id be surprised if Arnel last the whole tour. The way he is singing pullin all the stops, night after night, and the grueling schedule, I cant see his voice holding up. I am NOT wishing that it happens. That fucker can sing!! If he still has has his voice by the end of August Ill go see them, mind you, I decided that today, but I wont be hangin around the buses like the old days
