I was in dire need of someone to take the heat off my "it's their best album since Escape" statement from last night.

Arnel actually goes higher than Perry on a lot of the slower stuff...and still seemingly has room to spare. Dude has pipes. Serious pipes.

Yes, yes he does. Perry's got more depth to his voice though. When Arnel sings, it's high, it's great, it's thin. Perry's voice is just...thicker. That's the only word I can use to describe it. Full.

JSS has a full voice. Augeri's was thin, but thicker than Arnel.

Anyone else follow what I mean? Because I'm not even sure I do.

I gotta say I've always felt that Augeri has more warmth in his voice than Perry from the 70's who sometimes sounded a bit thin to me. As he aged he definitely gained more warmth and depth, though.

Gave my second copy of the new tunes CD to my 22 year old son...he just walked in after listening to it and said essentially this very same thing. :D

Good call! You won't find a better live performance of ANY song by ANYONE, EVER! That performance is simply the most remarkable vocal performance I've ever listened to. If anyone seriously believes anyone is close to Perry, in his prime, all they have to do is listen to that performance, to erase all doubt!
