What's your final opinion on re-recorded GH?

Awesome. Journey made the right decision re-recording these hits, and looking forward for more re-recording in the future.

They're just OK, after listening once or twice, I'm not going to listen to them again.

They're bad, Arnel sounds terrible with these re-recordings. Dont ever re-record songs again.

Not interested and will never listen to these re-recorded songs, I'm satisfied with original Perry/Augeri songs.

I have a problem with it. I hate covers anyway though. Have you all heard that hair metal Journey cover album? YUCK! Its like all those damn movie remakes... enough already. There have been very few music covers I've liked. Its not about Perry (for me) or what they're "doing to him" by covering. THAT mofo re-recorded that one demo and I didn't like that either. Was perfectly fine (and better) the first time.

I remain consistent on this issue. 8)

You're just pissed because they dared tinker with your baby. ;) I know you hate it, but I think he did a decent job on it. Look at the size of the shoes he has to fill on just that one song. Arnie :D is trying to fill the biggest shoes in music and a little fucking support would be nice. 8)

Perry's Nikes couldn't have been over a size 8. Now, filling those shoes after 2 decades of funk, that's where his greatest hurdle is.

...Oh, you were speaking on talent terms. Well, that's better left subjective than relative, eh Jeeves?

Probably. It was called Captured and was put out 28 years ago.
Live versions of NEW shit.. no. That's fine.

Can I ask a question? Just HOW many fucking times do we need to own Don't Stop Believin'?
I love the song and all but motherfucker, I own it NINE times now.

This is what I pictured from you voters. To summarize this poll, those who voted:

Option #1 - Journey loyal fans (Support the band no matter what the band do).
Option #2 - Journey moderate fans (not hater but still support Journey)
Option #3 - Journey extremely haters (most likely Perry/Augeri/JSS fanatics)
Option #4 - Perry fans maybe loons (still support Journey but not really Arnel/Journey haters)

IMO, based on this poll, after 74 voters, overall 95% still support Journey, and 5% are really anti-Journey. Thank you all for participating on this poll. 8)

I was in favor of this idea back when Jeff was gonna put his own spin on it.
With a more Perry-ish vocalist, I expected at the very worst a competent tho altogether needless cd - kinda like Chalfant's recently pointless "Fly 2 Freedom" Journey tribute.
What I didn't expect was for the cd to sound outright bad.
"Only the Young" sounds great, but on most others, Arnel's accent pulls me right out of the song.
Only the extended outros on "Who's Crying Now" and "Wheel in the Sky" makes it at all worthwhile.

I've tried listening to it more than once, and can't get through it.
In fact, I think it's a blight on an otherwise terrific cd + dvd package.

Terrible, I listened to the album once when I got it and my gf was with me. She was in choir for a few years and she said Arnel sounds #1 like he's mostly just talking and that he's struggling to hit the notes. There was also one time (I forget the song) where we both cringed a note was so bad.
