Just playing devils advocate here but was there any outrage when Believe In Me came out that it ripped off Be Good To Yourself? I seem to remember people praising how much it sounded like Journey.

I also seem to recall that NEal took the music/melody of Believe In Me to JSS and he then worked on the lyrics. In fact, I go tthe impression most of World Play was like that as well. Neal would send ideas to JSS to work on, I am assuming Neal's ideas were primarily melody and riff. If Neal "wrote" the music to Believe In Me while JSS wrote the lyrics than there is NO case plagiarism...

If I really cared, I could pull up about a thousand songs that feature a G-C-Em-C-D and harmony vocals from the melodic rock genre. People that sit here and harp on NWA's chord progression are ridiculous. There are certain chord progressions that are just industry standard in arena rock. For instance, C#m-A-E-B ... the chord progression that starts off Boston's Peace of Mind. You can find that progression in a million songs or its variant, E-C#m7-Bsus2-Asus2. Artists are going to sound like themselves, and to a lesser extent, bands within a certain genre are going to sound like their genre. That's why whenever I play a new MR song I'm keen on, my girlfriend immediately goes "Oh, that's a Matt song." It fits the prototype. BTW, artists can't plagiarize themselves even if they try.

You bet your ass there was, I was one of them. Oddly enough, I think Schon helped write that song (BIM) and it sounds like Journey, go figure.

Do folks really think Schon is plagiarizing himself? Christ people, Schon is going to sound like Schon. Schon helped write Be Good to Yourself, Believe in Me and Never Walk Away. Do you guys see a common theme here? JEEZ!

Nicely done on NWA for both singing and writing Jeremey. That song kicks ass!

NWA is Journey "Paint By Numbers" as a friend once described to me.

Same vibe as Be Good and Believe In Me for sure...

Decent song...But not one shred of originality.

It is what it is...A typical Journey opening track from the current cd.

I prefer songs 2-11 on Revelation....I don't hate NWA, it's just I have heard it all before in previous songs.

So I guess you also think BIM had not one shred of originality either huh?

Yeah the wrapper said 11 new songs, believe in me 2 and faith in the heartland are not new by any standards. These guys are professionals you dont think they didn't pick up on the fact that it is almost the same as bgty. Not a bad marketing tool, just like a rap song its got the familiarity of a hit years ago, it will be catchy...because people already know it or at least part of it.Completely lacks originality but it could sell,to me its a 9 song cd with these 2 reruns on it.

Have to side with Yulog here in regards to FITH NOT being a "new" song. 4 new tracks wasn't the final agreement. 4 new tracks is irrelevent. :D

I'll give you Faith In The Heartland, but Never Walk Away is a new song by all intents and purposes. Faith In The Heartland is renewed, and for me, better.
