Here are the best of my pics from the Manchester show on Thursday night. Probably the best concert we've ever seen.

You're a talented artist Marty. Does Journey buy photos from you? If not, they ought to.

Fantastic photos once again Marty, thanks for laying the link.

OMG, Marty...I think maybe you've finally gotten the hang of the picture taking thang. :D

You know I'm just kidding you, these, my friend, are some of the best you've ever done.

LOVE THEM ALL!

You have a great talent, and what great subject matter too.

First time on here, so hi to all!

What made the gig so great? Well I saw them twice in Manchester last year, there were sound problems on both nights. Also JSS and Deen had some vocal issues particularly on the second night. BUT this gig was superb, crystal clear sound and as for Arnels vocals they were just brilliant "soaring" would be an understatement. His interaction with the crowd was really good as well, not just to the front rows but to all the crowd even upstairs where I was. The interaction between Arnel and Neal certainly reminded me of SP an Neal. Neals playing was on another planet, awesome.
Wasn't going to see them again this tour but after that performance went on e-bay and got tickets for Nottingham next Friday.

The only criticism I would have is they need to work on there PR, note to their management and Deen in particular. After the gig we waited for autographs as we had done last year. Neal came out first and obliged everyone who asked for an autograph, photo etc and probably spent a good 10 mins with fans, good on ya sir! Next up Deen who walked past everyone (as the barriers had been put up by now), he gave the slightest sideways glance and walked straight on the bus, 5 mins out of your life wouldn't be too much now would it? My 10yr old son was extremely disappointed after waiting 35mins. Arnel tried to see the fans but was whisked on to the bus by management, just managing to grab a flag from a Filipino guy. John Cain who last year had spent time chatting and signing autographs went straight on the bus after videoing  the waiting 40 or so fans. Didnt wait for Ross as mt son was now pretty fed up!!!!

I thought the Chile show was OK, although Arnel looked awkward. The Vegas DVD was better but still a little disjointed. The Hammersmith show on Tuesday was far better and was an excellent concert but again there were moments when Arnel seemed unsure quite what to do (eg during the instrumentals) and the sound mixing was patchy in diferent parts of the hall.

However, the Manchester show on Thursday was pretty much flawless, and I think Arnel really came into his own at that show. He OWNED the stage and believe me it was a million times better than what you see and hear on the Vegas DVD. The sound mix too was fantastic. I wandered around the entire theatre taking pictures, and the sound was as clear as a bell everywhere I went.

It really was a superb concert.

You make the new line-up sound so bland and pedestrian, Saint John. It's like you're a team leader at a branch of Starbucks or something....

Marty, you truly are a genius.
Mick Rock is supposed to be THE rock group photographer, but I think you beat him hands down.

I have wasted so much money in the past on publicity pictures from so-called professionals up here in Notts, and they've all been rubbish. Lucky if we got two decent shots out of thirty six.

Are your rates reasonable? For photo shoots, I mean [before St John gets here and lowers the tone! ]

Hi Suzie, thanks for your comments. My rates are very reasonable - if you're serious get back to me in a couple of months (I barely have a evening free until August) and we'll sort something out. :D

Great thanx!
We just had a set of black & whites done for the jazz duo which should last us for a while - but when we are ready for a new set, I'll be in touch, Marty.
[I'll start saving up now so I can afford the diesel from Notts to Swindon! ]

What a super job, Marty! To me, this photo set is very much "alive"---capturing the emotions of the moment. Awesome timing, and choice of angles and locations, of shots! It's amazing that you were able to take this many high quality shots---while you were busy watching and listening at the same time...Call it multi-tasking, hardwork and artwork combined! Thanks a bunch!
