I've been watching you guys go at it for several weeks now. Trying to be sensible and non-partisan about it. Everyone makes a few good points here and there. But the TNC dude just comes off as petty and bitter. He might make a halfway decent op-ed columnist in a college newspaper, but he's clearly outclassed by the majority of folks who disagree with him. Both in cogency and most certainly in grasp of reality.

Any Conservative with a vestige of self-respect broke ranks and switched to Libertarian about a year ago (if not earlier).

I broke ranks and went independent. From now on I have no party affiliation - I just vote for the best candidate based on the issues. I am fedup with the Bush/Cheney/McCain style of administration. It's time to use common sense for a change... let's kick the redneck cowboys out of the White House and get back to doing the will of the people:

Let's get rid of manipulation and replace it with reason.

Let's stop policing the world and take care of protecting the home front (like China does successfully).

Let's stop using fear and replace it with intelligent strategy.

Let's stop the greedy Texas oil tycoons from profiting on Middle East oil and become energy independent (solar, nuclear, hydrogen, etc.).

What choices do we have this year? We can either stick with the Bush plan via McCain who is one foot out of the grave, or go with Obama who seems to have figured out long ago that bullying other countries to get our way does not work in the long run.

I'm not voting for McCain but I am also certainly not voting for Obama, either. I think anyone who thinks Obama is going to be any better than what we've had for the last 16 years is fooling themselves. At least you seem level-headed about all this.

For my part, I have no problem with gays. I have a relative by marriage that's gay... my aunt (who is not a blood relative)'s brother is gay and a super nice guy. I also had a gay teammate in college. One of my good friends who has kept in touch with me. Once played with an incredible classical violinist who was gay. A little eccentric and somewhat fit the stereotype, but a hell of a musician and a nice guy. Social conservatism isn't something interests me too much. I don't know if I'd say I'm a Libertarian, but I don't care what other people do on their own time. Sorry you have a problem with gays.
