OT: Uploading to YouTube

Postby The Sushi Hunter » Fri Jul 18, 2008 2:02 pm

I was wondering if anyone here has uploaded videos to YouTube. If so, what type of file is best to put the video in before attempting to upload? Also, is it better to upload a file that's on a DVD or first download it into your computer and then upload it onto Youtube, or does it even matter which way?

Also, if say I have a video that is five minutes long and 337 mb, how long would I expect that to take to upload on youtube. Youtube says that the max to upload is 1000 mb so I know I'm not maxing out yet. But when I attempt to upload, it takes an hour and still no confirmation that it's been uploaded.

Any advice would be grand. Thanks

Uh that's a pretty big file. It takes a long time for big files because it encodes them after uploading. Can you leave your computer on overnight to see if it goes?

I think I've uploaded only WMVs. I can't check cause my account was suspended.

Thanks for the info Sarah. I'll try it and see how it goes. And so what did you do to cause that to happen to your account?

I was uploading clips of TV shows. Not even full episodes, just 5-10 min clips.

Fuck you, Viacom.

I can't copy and paste since I'm using my phone so go to page 3 of the journey forum threads (we are on page one now) look for Rollie Perry era thread from July 8. On page 1 of that thread you will see a post from Rick with a link to his tutorial on how to upload videos to youtube.
