Postby lights1961 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 2:30 am

ANYONE WATCH... that was amazing. THE WHO SO KICK ASS... only group that did them justice
was Peral Jam... WOW.. foo fighters and flaming lips... not so good of covers in my opinion...

BUT loved Pete Townsend comment that this is a much better way to show appreciation than plastic awards!!

I remember buying that CD way back when if that is the one i am thinking of... back in the day they were a favorite band of mine.
The 1980 tour was amazing... and saw them in 82?? I think it was as well...and we saw them their last time through Iowa in fall of 06??

That's "Empty Glass".

I let lights's misspelling of "Townshend" fly (cuz no one ever gets it right anyway) but I can't let this one go.

I was working last night, so I missed it, might have to catch a rerun. I did walk through the lobby when the Foo Fighters were playing and a *20* year old had to ask me who that was! lol!

Flaming Lips SUCKED. WHY were they there? Terrible performance. Everybody else rocked. The strings on "Reign O'er Me" were so cool. Too bad Eddie Vedder doesn't have just a bit more range. He struggled with some of the higher stuff. Still, awesome performance. I wish Roger and Pete would've played that.

One of the best tribute shows I've seen,,, just great.

Foo Fighters, Incubus, and the Who were just awesome (Though Roger was a bit shaky on the first song,…and I like them better in jeans & a T - lol,, which is just so important   ) ...

ok,,, did anyone else tear up with Pete and Roger with that last song,,,
- I admit it.. lol

(LOVE empty glass!!)

[and, pssst, Rick,, it's "TownsHend" that you need to "spell 1000 times" ]

That would be cool. However, the PJ performance was pretty amazing. Roger and Pete were having vocal difficulties, but who cares? It's the friggin' WHO. One of my favorite bands. Quadrophenia is such an amazing album. Empty Glass had one song on it called "A Little Is Enough". That song should've been a hit. Great tune.

I hate to say this, but the Rock Honors thing is almost more a badge of honor than the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame...

It might be a worthy effort to start badgering the fuck all out of VH1 execs, to get Journey to be the next 'honoree'....
