Extreme-saudades de rock

After listening to this cd the song that hit me like a truck was song 11 "interface", its instantly catchy in the way "more than words" is, a great song, really done well.

After the first listen to the rest of the cd i was disappointed(maybe because i was hoping for something similar to pornograffitti, or three sides)....well its not like that at all. (not nearly as many hooks on this one) I had to give this one a few listens and now, i find myself really liking the cd despite it not being as heavy as their first 3 cds.Its obvious that they dont have a big budget on this one and the cd has a more stripped down approach.

When you get it, listen to INTERFACE first

Didn't realize it was out yet...gotta get it!

I heard someone else say it was sort of like a step BACK from Punchline, a comprimise between III Sides and Punchline. Could that be accurate? I never could get into Punchline and I have tried MANY times. But bring it back a little closer to their type of rock than the "grungy" attempt for Punchline and I could still be happy.

No problem, just give it a couple listens before you make judgement.

Its not out yet...as far as i know  i would gauge it between 3 sides and punchline(i didnt like punchline either)
I think they stayed true to their ability to do very different songs (at times making them hard to be strictly classed as one type of rock).

What i did find is by listening a couple times , there was a lot of little curves in the road(stuff extreme was known for)that i didnt hear at first because i would just skip to the next song. Its not what i expected but its growing on me like poison oak

Aug 12th is the release date.

Well then, I am still looking forward to it! I certainly partake in the internet playground to find music, but I think I might hold off until I can buy this one. I always support Extreme and if I play in the sandbox I might 'forget' to spend the money later...

Interface - is a remake, was originally done on Dramagods 2005, Nuno's other project, which I think the drummer comes from. That is a great GREAT album, btw (Thanks Trag for turning me onto it ;-)

Checking out the other cuts, more feedback coming, thanks for the heads up.

I think the new Extreme is a very strong record...a grower for sure...one listen won't do it. It's got that patented blend of groove & harmony...Zep & Queen...funk & shred...I like it a lot.

I have tickets in hand to see them next Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Amos' in Charlotte (w/ King's X) !!! WOOHOO!!

I've seen them three or four times now, and they always put on a great show.

The coolest show was on the Pornograffiti tour at the Cotton Club in Atlanta. Some band whose debut CD had just come out opened for them...they were called Alice In....something?

Definitely liking the album so far.

Wish they were fucking coming to Nashville. They're skipping right over, just like most tours.
