Besides Journey's GH, what are some of your other favorite Greatist Hits CDs.

First 3 that came to mind........

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Chicago Greatest Hits-'82 to '89. Freaking AWESOME album! Another great one is Genesis- "Turn it on again-the hits". Dokken's "The very best of Dokken" is pretty good too... Beat you to it Rip!
The artist formerly known as Jim. :-)

To qualify as a "great greatest hits collection," the band must be strong enough to compile at least 12 songs that are really good. Very little filler material should be on any GH. Should be a given, but unfortunately, it's not.

The Guess Who - Ultimate Collection (3 discs)

Billy Joel - The Essential Billy Joel (2)

Bob Seger - Greatest Hits I

The Cars - Just What I Needed: The Cars Anthology (2)

Chicago - The Very Best of Chicago - Far from comprehensive, but a pretty good smattering of all the eras.

Def Leppard - Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection

Dennis DeYoung - Ultimate Collection

The Eagles - The Very Best of the Eagles (2 disc) - Like the Chicago disc

Hootie & The Blowfish - The Best of Hootie & The Blowfish

Huey Lewis & The News - The Heart of Rock & Roll: The Best Of...

James Gang - Greatest Hits

Kansas - The Best of Kansas

Little River Band - Reminiscing The Twentieth Anniversary Collection

Night Ranger - Whatever that compilation they put out a few years ago is called, that's great top to bottom

Phil Collins - Hits

The Raspberries - Power Pop, Vols. I and II

REO - The Essential REO Speedwagon (still good, conspicuously missing some early gems)

Steely Dan - Citizen Steely Dan (4 disc)

Styx - Come Sail Away: The Styx Anthology

Survivor - Ultimate Survivor

Thin Lizzy - Greatest Hits

Todd Rundgren - Anthology

U2 - Best of 1980-90

The Who - The Who Collection

VH - Best of Both Worlds

Yes - The Ultimate Yes: The 35th Anniversary Collection

DISHONORABLE MENTION - Eddie Money. As far as I know, this guy refuses to put one of his finest songs, "Endless Nights," on any compilation. It's one of his best, and more importantly, the father of my two best childhood friends has a co-write on the song (John Cesario).

Gotta go with CHANGES ONE by Bowie. I think that was one of the finest retrospectives of an artist (up to that point) ever released.
AND, if I'm not mistaken, the first to throw on an unreleased track (JOHN, I'M ONLY DANCING)
