Just watched this. Not overly impressed. Perry did stuff on that song that makes it impossible not to make comparisons. Arnel is nowhere close to being Perry's equal, but I'll give him this....he's probably the best they will ever find on you tube.

Perry's on youtube as well. Surely Arnel can't be better than Perry? NO!?

Kidding aside, it is unfair to compare Perry and Arnel especially since you have seen the former live and (I am assuming) Arnel only on shitty youtube videos. I have seen Arnel live and I am telling you that the youtube vids cannot justify what you will hear and experience.

Absolutely...
Youtube vids are shit. You hardly hear what the heck is going on, and agreed you do have to see and hear Pineda in the flesh to appreciate what he has.
I have seen Journey many times over the past 10 years and the latest tour is by faaaarrr the best i have witnessed over those years.

Ditto! Arnel does a great job on that one. But JSS nails DOA........when i first saw this clip I remember thinking, gawd I haven't seen that song thrown down with as much piss and vinegar since Perry's Tokyo 81 performance. Always loved the horsing around between JSS and Deen too. :(

I'll agree with you there, there is some that Arnel shines on. But I have to tell ya, if I want to listen to something that close, I'll listen to the originals.

They need to put that song away (La do da ). Not Just Arnel but all the guys are out of harmony on it. Play "Where were you" or "Line of fire" , hell even take a stab at "Patiently" but put that song to rest. None of them have the voice for it anymore.

I hear you Deb, I just think it's one of the songs that fits Arnel's range. If he is going to sing the classics off of Infinity, let him get one that is lower to his natural vocal.

LOL, I'm a sentimental ole fool.........IMO that one just has Perry written all over it, and it was the first one that just SP and NS wrote together. Give him something else off Infinity.

Not live in person, no. :( I only ever saw that one Escape era concert in '82. But I do have a couple concert dvd boots from the Departure era that he sings Patiently on. :)
