Still on pace with Platinum by tour's end. But each week it seems a little harder to get there. Not sure this CD will have another 6 weeks life to it. Unless they get that Single out and HEARD!

Yessir, any day of the week. I was really disappointed yesterday, but someone mentioned that maybe Walmart's numbers weren't in yet, and I guess that was the case. Looks damn good for week 12. A pleasant surprise.

One question, and I don't mean to be negative: Why do you care how many copies are sold? Is that going to prove something?

Just asking......

Place Vendome? Are you serious??

I can't believe someone prefers that boring style of Euro metal to Journey!

Commercially they haven't been viable since 1988.

They are now, even if it's gimmicked a bit.

It's been a while since they've had an album reach Platinum status. I know you disagree with the way it's getting there, but in this day and age, for a band like Journey, with all the piracy and the different climate, it'll be a hell of an achievement.

That's an increase of 53 units since last week ..... not decreasing ..... increasing. And increase of four spots on the HDD chart. Increase, not decrease .....

Total count to date = 828,400 CDs (at 2x CDs per album, per RIAA standards). Insert miscellaneous argument against the RIAA standards here: ________________________________________ .

Journey needs to sell 14,300 albums per week for the next 6 weeks for the album to go platinum. Some work to do, but not impossible, especially if there's a spike in sales from any promotional campaign or television appearance .....

What's interesting is that the non-Wal-Mart sales are increasing each week over the last three weeks:

08/12 .... 2477
08/19 .... 3491
08/26 .... 4240

But seriously ..... is anybody REALLY going to care if the album goes platinum on Oct. 8th versus Oct. 15th? If anyone had predicted on January 1st of this year that Journey would (1) find a fantastic lead singer, (2) release a CD that would start at #5 on the sales charts and be pushing RIAA-platinum-certified within 20 weeks of its initial release, (3) sell-out most of their tour dates this summer, and (4) have a single in the Billboard Hot AC Top 10, you'd think they were completely crazy, no matter how big of a Journey fan they are ......

I agree, completely.

They've made some really smart moves throughout this whole deal.

#1 and the toughest part. Finding a great singer that can sing that tough catalog, that brought a whole new legion of fans was, while being very lucky, genius.

#2 The content and marketing of Revelation is brilliant.

#3 Touring with Heart & Cheap Trick makes the concert a must see. They would have sold out every venue if people weren't in such bad financial shape right now.

Oh btw, I know this doesn't mean much for the American sales, but HMV here in Canada also sells Revelation.

You can't get the DVD, but you can get the 2 CD set for $17.99.

The 11.88 price at walmart is still the better deal!

Nope....December will bring a resurrection......

that should be the Title of Perry's Cd if he ever releases it.

Rick

HIGH~FIVE.....I like!!!

Now that's a cool title...that's what I though JSS would have come up with.... Love Lost in Translation and Prism....Beautiful Mess just sucks as an album title. Can't stand it. The music is good though so looking forward to the album.

I think so too. Since so many people do all their Cmas shopping at WM, the casual fan will snap this album up quickly.

Also, with the exception of "Arrival: 2001 DVD", Journey has never had a recording medium reach gold or platinum status without Steve Perry. ("Arrival: 2001 DVD" reached gold status.) This comment isn't meant to provoke pro- or anti-Steve Perry commentary. It's just that they (and their new lead singer) will have greatly enhanced credibility if they reach that mark, in my opinion. It'll be a way to celebrate the legacy of Journey while also getting a charge for the future .....

So what do the "non-WalMart" sales consist of? Are those concert sales? If WalMart is the exclusive dealer in the US, and these are US numbers, where are the other numbers coming from?

Concert sales and on-line sales from the official Journey website.

Ya know, it's funny because they're showing Revelation on the Frontiers label, but that's only over in Europe...here in the states it's Nomata. Are they only counting sales here in the U.S.A. ?

Good one, with the heel of a boot stomping a scarab. LOL

(that's just supposed to be funny, not insulting the guys)

I love the new album, but I've got my picks mixed in with the older stuff on my Ipod and listen to them often.

That's exactly right -- NOMATA, LLC is the label in the U.S., and Frontiers is the label in Europe. They are only counting sales in the U.S. for Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) purposes of certifying the album as gold or platinum.
