OT - What was Francona thinking?!

Postby S2M » Mon Sep 29, 2008 4:28 am

Tampa has lost last 3 games, and they are losing today 5-0 in Detroit....

Terry chose to start David fucking Pauley instead of Dice-K, and subsequently lost to the Yanks 19-8...IF Tampa loses today, and the sox sweep the Yanks - both teams would be tied...and since Tampa won the season series - they hold the tiebreaker.

So that ONE game decided the division....I guess Francona would rather play the HOT Angels, then the lowly Twins/White Sox..... Image

Regular season records dont count for all that much in the post season . The Angels have always fared poorly against the Sox in post season. Come Tuesday night the Angels will start having dreams about Baylor in 86 , Ortiz in 84 etc etc etc

Plus even with a Sox sweep and a Detroit sweep. you still have to play an emotional hard playoff game on Monday. Everyone is tired. Best let your best two starters get some rest and be ready to fire out against the angels..

I dont think he made a mistake

It's irrelevant, dude! The Sox aren't beating the Angels whether they played them in the first round or second round! The Sox are one and done this season. The Angels are going to the World Series!
