God this sounds even better than the other show. Arnel is KILLING it. It's amazing to me how he captures the maturity that had crept into Perry's voice by the time this song was recorded. That to me has always been what made the song for me - Perry doesn't sound so high and contrived as he does on Open Arms.

This show was amazing!!! Sold out and the entire crowd was on its feet pretty much throughout the entire set. Arnel is the best thing to happen to this band since Steve Perry and that is not an exaggeration or a biased opinion in any way. I'm coming from a place in my life where Journey really doesn't interest me anymore. I'm actually quite bored to death of them... until lastnight. They sucked me right back in with fresh energy and frenetic, fierce performances. Arnel is so much fun to watch and he pours his heart and soul into every song. God bless him!

I went with my best friend who has been my best friend since the 6th grade. She has been going to Journey shows with me for more than 25 years. Our first when we were 16 years old. It's almost surreal to stand there with her and watch Neal & Jon and realize that we have been watching these guys perform for nearly 3 decades together.

I have seen Journey more than a dozen times with Augeri, once with JSS, once with Arnel and 5 times with Steve Perry. The closest to 80's era Journey crowd and performance I've seen was lastnight. At one point, I texted my husband and told him to call 911 because Neal Schon was on FIRE!

Just when I thought I didn't care about this band anymore, they go and blow me away. Whatever business/personnel decisions they have made, on stage they are some of the world's finest musicians and I feel lucky to still be able to watch them play.

I feel the same way Barb. Since Perry left, Journey is slowly fading away from the radar, until Arnel came on board. Neal's idea to search the You Tube really paid off. I mean, not only from the legacy of their music standpoint but the business side of it. I applaud their management decision to go international. This is Business 101 at best. This coming three weeks off will give them some rest to revitalize their energy to go out and rock some more. There is no opportunity left for this band to take a year off. Going overseas will produce more dinero to these guys and some fame overseas. Forget the economic bailout for this guys, they did their economic bailout this year by making the right decision. Hats off to you Neal!!!

Something else better this time around is the total show...lights, screens, cameras, fog, etc. I know it seems a little shallow to think that way, but it does make a big difference. For so long they were stuck in the humdrum-five-guys-in-jeans-on-a-stage thing. Seems with AP and 2008, they've finally made it back to big time arena rock.

I finally got to see Arnel at the Greek Theatre, having not got Tickets for the first show, I lucked out the second show which ended being performed two days before the first one anyway. I can say that I was impressed. He is not Steve Perry but these songs were meant to be sang live and he is as good as it gets. This is going to sound strange but a lot of fans at the Greek only knew about WYLAW from seeing Arnel sing it on youtube. I'm not talking about just the filipinos in the crowd, many people had written Journey off after ROR and didn't know anything about TBF or didn't follow the group anymore at that point. I had to tell people that this was a Grammy Nominated song as they thought it was a new one. I wonder if TBF sales wil go up a little now. Anyone saying Arnel does not sing with emotion has to see him sing this song live. Maybe it's because he misses his girlfriend and is homesick but the emotion is there. Having seen Perry live before on the Escape and Frontiers tour, even Steve only laid it on the line for certain songs (Stay Awhile, Still they ride), it just isn't possible to pour your heart into every song or you'd be burnt out in 20 minutes. Journey made the right choice as far as I'm concerned. The crowd loved the ballads and these are songs that really need to be done by a frontman and not from behind the drumkit like the last few years.
The Greek is small but has a wonderful sound layout. I've been there for Kenny Loggins, Celtic Woman and even my son's graduation ceremony and the acoustics have always been top notch. Arnel came out before the show and mixed with fans in the courtyard which was good since I heard but didn't verify that the meet and greet was canceled.
I had my son drop us off (Screw Stacked parking) and had no problems finding our seats on the South Terrace in time for Cheap Trick. Let me say that Robin shouldn't be in anyone's top 5 for vocalists but CT has been more about having fun and they delivered with that.
Heart is wonderful but I have to disagree with those who say Anne hasn't lost any range. Just a little from when I saw her at the fair a few years ago but then again she is not that young anymore. It doesn't matter as I would gladly see Heart again by themselves.

There were a few lighters but that's a nono at the Greek because of it being part of Griffith Park. I would like to see Arnel take it a step down as far as running and jumping all over the place, he had a faux pas with the mikestand one time but he just needs to slow down a bit that's all. I WISH I could get tickets for the show tomorrow night but I don't think it came happen, that's fine as I'd like everyone to get a chance and see the group live so once for me is enough i guess.

He's Bill Owen, an actor from a British Sitcom called Last of the Summer Wine. the show has been on since 1973. Bill and most of the cast have passed on with the exception of 3 people, most notably Peter Sallis who is the voice of Wallace from Wallace and Gromit. It's a gentle comedy with a lot of outdoors shots in the Holmfirth valley in Yorkshire, England. Most PBS stations carry the show or show the reruns from the 70's and 80's.

Hey everyone,

I'm just checking in from the studio but if you're wondering if I've been able to do anything else this last week besides working on the album, I was able to go to the Journey with Heart and Cheap Trick concert last night!! Woo Hoo! haha. The sad thing was I missed Cheap Trick and part of Heart because I was recording , but at least I was doing something productive and important haha. So I'm bummed I couldn't see the first part of the show, but Heart was amazing as always. Journey was incredible too!! I was able to go backstage and meet them during the intermission after Heart's set, and I have to admit I was nervous because I felt like I was just bugging them and invading their space haha. But they were waaay nice. They have the new singer Arnel Pineda, and I can't believe how amazing he can sing. He's Filipino, and blew me out of the water! Another sad part is I didn't bring my camera since I was thinking about recording before haha, but I tried getting pictures of them performing on my iPhone...

I went to YouTube to see if there was any new concert footage, and the WYLAW song came up from 9/27/08 concert, and it had already had almost 4,500 hits. Tonight is the 30th . So that's just in a few days. People are happy about that song. Journey is on a roll.

They did that just to the left of me, I didn't think the lighting was bright enough but it looks like it came out okay. That lousy seat cost me 135 dollars, I'm too much of a cheapskate to get tossed for trying to film a concert.
