That could be a top 5 dumbest post ever on here. I don't listen to anything pre-Escape because Perry's voice was so fucking annoying and you throw that comment at me?!?!? When debating it's usually a good idea to make sense. Try that in the next argument.![]()
My bad, it's just that most of your faves are/were high tenors aren't they?
My favorite Journey album has always been Frontiers. I don't like more than 3 or 4 songs total from Infinity, Departure, and Evolution combined. I'm an Escape, Frontiers and ROR guy for the most part. Street Talk, too.
ROR too? Ok, you have better taste than I thought then.Carry on..........
ROR is a fine piece of work. It' the speeded up songs on the tour that sucked. Though a pretty good amount of that tour was awesome!!! It just all fell apart really fast.
Except for Positive Touch.
That song is just misunderstood.
No, no it's not. It's probably my least fave off the cd too. It Could Have Been You is a lost gem on that cd IMO.
Good post, dude. I agree 100%. I'd love for them to play that live. Have they ever done so?Matthew wrote:
No, Deb it is misunderstood. Everyone dismisses Positive Touch as some happy-clappy, cod-Motown, Bill Joelish nonsense - but although it might start out like that true connoisseurs of ROR such as me and Red appreciate the cunning change of gear in the second half of that song where it becomes one of the most immense and melancholy moments in Journey's history - and as it reaches its crescendo Perry is absolutely on fire. What a great, great record this is. And it's time the band showed some balls and dared to play this at one of the shows

Anything on ROR is good listening. But this is the one that I would LOVE to have heard LIVE in concert (or ICHBY). The vocal tone just makes my toes curl.![]()

Jana wrote:Deb and Melissa, that's the song I really wanted them to add to the tour. I really hope next year they play it. It's my favorite concert footage of Steve Perry singing. Loved, Loved, Loved his look and the song. But the studio drummer totally distracts me. That's just wrong.

i agree.that and happy to give are the only songs i listen to on that one.

Only got a copy of ROR a few days ago - LOVE Happy to Give (though could do without the too-happy harmonising); still making my mind up about the rest. So far I like it, but going to wait for a few weeks of repeat playing before I give my definitive view
