Some of you fellow Johnnies-come-lately probably haven't heard of this yet:

...So pristine. One comment goes, "...The beginning...'s sublime!"...It is.

Yeah agreed it is an awesome version, and the beginning is totally incredible. Its a very popular demo though, its everywhere.
When you compare this one with the original version, it makes me think how unbelievably lucky the band were when Herbert TOLD them that Perry was gonna be in the band.
They were extremely lucky to get Perry when they did.

Been a while since I've heard the KBFH performance, but if this is that version, it shouldn't be considered a demo. It was a jam session recorded in late '78, way after the album was released. I also believe this was Steve Smith's first gig with Journey.

AV is correct, its not really a demo, its a jam, but it has always been classed as the 'Wheel in the sky' demo though. It also appears on the infamous 'Infinity' demos boot.

There's a version with Robert Fleishman on vox floating around out there somewhere.
THAT'S your WITS demo.

They did use a similar intro in the shows that I've heard from 79 and 80. It was 10x more amazing than this version too!
