first off it was BEAUTIFUL for 3 weeks prior to the show. The night of the show it starts getting cloudy, then windy, then @ 6:00 pm it starts to rain... I'm thinking it'll rain for 20 minutes tops and then stop ( anyone from here will tell you it rarely rains for more than a few minutes, especially this time of year) well, half way through Cheap Trick it finally lets up, I'm thinking cool, we are all a little wet and cold but by the time journey comes out we will be relatively dry and it will be a great show.
CT finishes their set (very good btw) and the crew comes out, sets Journey's stage and right before Journey comes out the sky opens up again... FUCK!
I can't remember the whole set list but they opened with NWA, Arnel and the Jboys sounded awesome right from the start! There wasn't too much by play between songs as the guys knew the crowd was cold & wet, they thanked everyone numerous times for sticking it out through the bad weather and ripped through the set list. It was fast furious and LOUD, Deens drums were thunderous throughout the show, Neals Guitar soaring along w/ Arnels voice.
The guys seemed happy and energetic, the crowd, despite the weather was very enthusiastic and were blown away by Arnel in my estimation.
Some highlights for me. WYLAW- Arnel nailed this, amazing. Deen is a monster! All in all a great show, I will have to catch them again next year and hope for better weather as it kinda put a damper on a very good show.
IMHO Arnel made it through his first tour with flying colors
