OT: Alabama Pays Lynyrd Skynyrd $25K

Postby Enigma869 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 12:03 am

I guess state governments have nothing better to spend their money on these days. Hopefully, they charge a premium for these plates, and make the money back quickly!

No, their favorite song is "I'm in You" by Peter Frampton.

I actually agree with you! I've always hated that fucking song! That said, "Sweet Home Alabama" is a great song. Based on my less than positive experience living in the south, I suspect Alabama isn't a place I would like, even a little, but the song is great!

Freebird at least has a kickass solo. "Sweet Home" should never, ever, ever be played in public or on the airwaves ever again, by anyone.

LMFAO!!!

You are a funny SOB, dude, but you've outdone even yourself here!
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Not gonna argue musical opinions but in all of my 50 something years...I have never seen a better...more electric...more kick ass band than the barefoot Ronnie Van Zant fronting the original Lynyrd Skynyrd with Collins...Rossington and Ed King on guitar. Was lucky to see them about 10 times....if you think Skynyrd is all Sweet Home and Freebird you have missed the boat...by a mile....

Trust me, I was being kind. Cant STAND them. If they were the last band on earth, I'd poke my eardrums out.

Intersting...as far as licensing of a song goes, 25k is pretty durn cheap. Looks like the Skynyrd boys need some money (who doesn't these days).

Regardless, I agree with Maui Tom....To judge Skynyrd on just freebird and sweet home, is idiotic...so much other great music to listen to.

It's like judging Journey on Lovin Touchin and Open Arms. If were given those two songs to judge Journey on....and just those two songs, I'd have moved onto Survivor.

Great point, Frank. Easily the two gayest songs in Journey's catalog! I cringe every time I hear either one of those dreadful songs! By the way, how is it not having a baseball team to follow in October
