Please realize that many Congresses of BOTH PARTIES have sold us out into debt for years to get (buy) votes with promises and MANY in this country are stupid enough to believe it. The President has little power. He is commander -in- chief and can veto, but EVERY spending bill comes out of the H of Reps. WE NEED TERM LIMITS!!!! There was a movement in the 80's that did not get very far. There were some laws passed to force banks to get everyone into propery whether they could qualify or not. Anyone who voted for this belongs in jail along with the Wall St clowns and the Clinton Appointees that ran Freddie & Fannie The one left with 90 million and the other I forget. Look them up and then get back to me on what yo think there qualifications were. Why are they not jailed? I think the FBI is on it but justice takes yrs. Now on to voter fraud states and the FBI raids. Oh BTW- our nat'l accumalation of unbalanced budgets is 12 trillion. Now our unfunded Social Security and ..... is 52 trillion. WE ARE BANKRUPT!!!! No Pres did this -it is Congress !!!!!

It is part Bush's fault as it is the Dems and Libs in Congress. The President submits his budget to Congress every year and he wanted to spend cash like an old man on the Vegas strip with a bottle of viagra.

As far as term limits for Congress goes, it's unconstitutional, in my opinion.

Bush pushed low-income mortgages even more than Clinton (who actually vetoed the first two bills because they were so lacking in regulatory oversight). Everyone's fingers got into that pie.

In 2000, poor people were given mortgages they did not actually qualify for. But Clinton pushed them to happen, so they did. Now these people fall behind on payments. Hey, housing market is up I'll just get a home equity loan to cover my debt. Well now they have even larger payments they can't make. Those are the dominoes that started the mess. Then in 2003 people were still getting loans under the Clinton initiative. Nobody really said anything since prices were still rising and Federal agencies were still purchasing the loans. Now the housing market crumbles. Oooops. Not putting Clinton on the hook for some of these problems is taking a blind eye for party politics. That would be like saying a toy company that makes and markets a machette for kids isn't responsible for when they start cutting each others heads off.

Congress passed it 90-8, by the way. And Republicans initiated the legislation; Clinton did veto it twice because it was too deregulated. Those are facts.

Bush took it to the next level, however. I've already made three posts on this thread proving that beyond dispute.

Despite Bush's complicity in adding to this problem early on, let's also not forget about the complicity of crooks like Dodd and Frank who continued to push it even after Bush actually began warning Congress about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It may have been too little too late but at least he realized it while those two frauds continue to mislead Americans, especially Frank who, not much more than a month ago, said that those two companies were "solid going forward".

We all seem to admit that both parties are corrupt to some extent or another. It's the main reason as a conservative I don't want them in charge of my health care. Would any libs like to explain why they want these corrupt entity in charge of more of their lives? Honest question.
