OT: Paparazzi: Do They Go Too Far Over The Line?

Postby T-Bone » Tue Oct 28, 2008 8:10 pm

The paparazzi have always been pests, but in the last 10 years or so, since the internet boom, they've gotten so much worse. I read stories left and right about stars/musicians/etc... somehow "injuring" some fuckwad with a camera that was too fucking stupid to get the hell out of the way when a car is moving, getting knocked to the ground in a flurry of other paparazzis or getting in the face of someone and they finally react and then having the nuts to try and sue that star for ridiculous amounts of money.

Recently: Keanu Reeves takes on hurt paparazzo

Any dipshit can fake a fall or injury and say that the celebrity somehow did it. In my opinion, if your standing too close to a car, when you KNOW DAMN WELL it's trying to move or go somewhere, and you get your foot run over all in the name of getting a picture, you deserve what you get. I understand celebrities draw attention, but there should be a 10 foot law or something regarding celebrities and photographers. Sure they live in the limelight, but they also have private lives as well and that shouldn't be intruded on by anybody. These paparazzi morons hang out in trees, cars and anything else to purposly invade privacy. I don't understand why the courts can't impose severe punishments, fines or jailtime for these infractions.

Honestly, it's downright stupid.....

Opinions?

My policy is this; standing in the path of a moving car is the ultimate deathwish and anyone that does something that stupid deserves what they get.( This policy does not apply to children and the mentally impaired who way not be fully aware of the major side effects of during something as foolish as that.)

I agree and think there should be stiff penalties for the paps who trespass to get that photo so dear to their wallet. I know they're celebs but they still have rights to privacy. I would become a real bitch if I had twenty people suffocating me and not allowing me to move when I was only trying to have some sort of normal life at all like going to get my own coffee or lunch, etc. :x

Yes they do. I 100% support any celeb who wants to give those motherfuckers a good solid pop in the face. The ribbon for this cause shall be indigo.

The reason there is not that much of a push back from celebrities is that they use the tabloids and paparazzi to their advantage a lot of the time. So, by taking them on would ultimately hurt their ability to get press.

Ask yourself how some people are able to avoid the paps altogether and others are in their cross- hairs all the time.

Look at the breaking news a about Halle Berry’s suicide attempt. It made headlines over all of the tabloids even though it was years before. Why was it out now? She had a movie out that week surprise, surprise.

Madonna has been separated from Guy Ritchie for almost a year, which has been confirmed through several news agencies, but their divorce announcement leaks all over the tabloids the week her tour starts and Guy Ritchie’s new movie, RockaRolla starts to open. Surprise, Surprise.

Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson got back together for like a weekend, but it was all over the TV and tabloids. It happened when Motley Crue’s new album came out and tour was about to begin and Pam had her new show premiering on E!.

The list goes on and on.

Don’t get me wrong. Paparazzi do cross the line and much too often. The celebrities cannot say too much because they use them for publicity.

Keanu is able to because he can generally stay out of the public eye and has not use that type of promotion.
