Definitely not a Mike Martz type of play at the end though.

godfuckingdamnit...

Even in a loss, I think you should feel good about this one, Maui. The way they played for Singletary tonight in arguably the hardest place to play in Arizona, is a step in the right direction. Hell, listening to Singletary and watching him on the sidelines makes me want to fly to San Fran and play for the guy. One helluva leader and it will be one helluva turnaround for this team with him at the helm.

You're right but for tonight...

godfuckingdamnit

If the season ended today, Warner is the hands down MVP. His numbers and consistency are remarkable. When ESPN put that stat up last night of Warner's 300 yard games, I was stunned. He has passed for more than 300 yards in 45% of his career starts, which is simply mind boggling. The next closest guy to him is Dan Fouts, who pulled it off in 28% of his career games. The Cardinals are definitely going to have to be taken seriously, but they will absolutely beat themselves in the playoffs, because they are one of the least disciplined teams in the NFL. I thought last night's game was VERY sloppy, on both sides.

Singletary is instantly likeable as a fan. He's going to be an awesome coach somewhere. SF will be foolish not to offer him the job.

Can any one of you football freaks(meant as a compliment) please explain to me why teams don't have a hot read(safety valve) on EVERY pass play? Or maybe they do, I'm just not an expert on this type of thing.

Lately I've been real iffy on play calling in the NFL...I'm a firm believer in Offensive play calling being the LONE reason for losses in the NFL. Granted whatever play IS called, the other team stops it. Gotta give some credit threre, but most often it is the wrong call in the situation.

Back to the hot read. Any time there is a blitz on a pass play - there should be a WR close for the dump off. ALWAYS. I've seen Peyton do that SO MANY times in the past 7-8 years. Other teams, not so much.

Coaches/play calling are responsible for AT LEAST a third of a teams losses.

Oh yah.. in most cases it's the Quarterback/Receiver responsibility to recognize what defense the defense is in and recognize where the blitz is coming from or figure out where the soft zone is or if it is man to man or where the safety is on the field. That's what offensive coordinators are for, to figure out what the D is doing, but in most cases it changes at the last second since defense's move around so much.

In practice The receiver and Quarterbacks go over most of their hot reads by mostly watching film on that team and if they see something they've seen on film a simple wink or a simple look or eye contact will indicate a go route or whatever they discussed as the hot read. So it all depends if the Quarterback and Receiver recognize the defense and are on the same page with each other.

This happened last night with Warners' TD pass to Fitzgerald on 4th down and 2 where the original offense runs its original play but the Quarterback and receiver run the hot read. 2 weeks Byron Leftwhich hit Santonio Holmes for a TD in Washington in this case also.
