OT: Rely A Little Too Heavily On Technology?

This morning before work, I stopped to get gas. I got done filling up, went in and got some other snacks and paid my bill. I came back to my truck and there was an 18-21 year old girl swearing up a storm about the dead batteries in her keychain. I stood there for a second and listened to her while she called someone (parents, boyfriend?) because the Gas station didn't have the right batteries for her keychain...........












AND SHE COULDN'T GET INTO HER CAR!!!!!!!!!





I debated whether or not I should "interfere", and decided to help out because I absolutely needed to hear the reply and see the look on her face when I unlocked her door using the keys she was holding. At first she looked a little puzzled, and the she turned the prettiest shade of RED I've seen in a while.... Politely said "thank you"... And sped away to work

...I thought the world was mad with automatic faucets, soap dispensers, paper towels, flushers... then I saw the automatic TP dispenser, and I'm like, "That's it... our grandchildren are fucked." I can see it now... automated EVERYTHING. And, as an old-fashioned country girl who doesn't mind pushing up her sleeves and using a little elbow grease to clean the kitchen or mow the yard, that idea pisses me off.

When did we get so lazy? So numb/dumb?

You know, after dealing with two NASTY sinus infections, a bout of strep, and about 10 colds in the last year (seriously can count on one every other week of winter) despite eating well, taking vitamins, getting good sleep, and being a college athlete (i.e. very active/fit), I'm making a conscious effort to wash my hands more often. I still don't think washing hands is all its cracked up to be, as far as getting sick goes.

I'm interested to see how it goes. I seriously seem to catch a cold if I even see someone with one out of my peripheral vision and I'm tired of it...

Nope and nope. Haven't lived in a dorm since the end of freshman year. Live with a cpl other dudes, but that's no different than livin at home. Plus, I caught one of the sinus infections over the summer when I was slaving away behind a desk.

I tell my friends I'm the "sickest healthy person" I know

Actually the ones that scare me are the cars that don't even come with a real key, they just have remote access... I don't mind about being technology dependent but when you can't even get out of your own car (if the car battery dies for example)...
