Actually, in Australia our rednecks are in the north.

This is true - Queensland is our 'redneck state', and the Returned Servicemen's League has a history of producing vocal members who are pretty conservative/right wing (pro-death penalty, women belong in their place and shouldn't talk back, gays should be shot into space, etc). The headquarters of the RSL in Queensland is (or at least was the last time I was in Brisbane back in the early 90s) located in a building called Redneck House. Seriously!

BTW - I am a left-wing hippie kid, about as non-redneck as you can get.
