I got a platinum blone Toni doll! I was 7 years old and I wanted it so bad. You could give the doll a "perm" and wash the hair. Plus all the outfits! My mom got a pattern for more outffits and she made me so many..I was the envy of all the little girls in the neighborhood!
Does anyone else remember the 'Toni Doll'?

Anne :D

Mine had to be the Barbie clothes my mom made for my Francie doll. She made a nightgown with housecoat, evening gown with a mink stole, dresses with coats and hats, and capri pants and blouses..

I was never into toys/action figures etc. much. In fact, I can't remember ever wanting to even own a single action figure (still received some here and there I'm sure). Sure I watched cartoons and loved action movies and what not, but it was always videogames, music, and sports for me.

My favorite gift was the Fender Squier Strat Pack I got - a guitar with a piss-poor setup, horrendous pick-ups, and the ability to stay in tune for about two chords, a shitty little 10W Squier practice amp, and a gig bag that barely protected the damn thing from a dirty look, let alone being hit off the wall or bouncing around in the trunk on the way to lessons. Got it when I was 10, in the fourth grade, and haven't put the guitar down since! Luckily, I got rid of that piece of shit once I got into playing, but it was a good start :)

I have one gathering dust in my garage someone gave me to put in a garage sale along with some of the old furniture. You can get the replacement parts/furniture on ebay, but since it wasn't mine as a kid I never got enough interest to pursue it.

Got a Ernie Puppet when I was five. When I got it I thought what the hell good is this puppet. I wanted a damn bike. But Ernie and I became good pals as soon as I learned that Ernie could do and get away with shit that I couldnt. Alls I had to do is stick my hand in him- Kiss girls ( I was one of them rare boys who never found girls gross) , Stealing Cans of Root Beer and Hersey bars from 7-11. Throwing rocks at windows. Eating the last piece of pie in the fridge.

Matt never did "jack shit". But that Ernie puppet was as dang terror.

[quote="Duncan"]Showing my age now, but i had an Evil Kineval (?) jet bike. You stuck this thing in this contraption and wound the handle and there were flints in the jets that would cause sparks, then you let it go and try to mow down the cat! Brilliant. I'd buy one now if they were still around.

Aw i had that - it was great - i loved the fact that it could flip and never stop moving or fall over - it did some big jumps too - great fun.

My Viking would have burned down the house and sole the camper. I won't even mention what would have happened to Barbie.

Whne I was little, my youngest (and favourite) Uncle had a Scalextric set, which I thought was the coolest thing ever! He used to babysit me after kindy/school when I was little, and would sometimes bribe me to be good - behave and you can play with the Scalextric for five minutes. I wanted a set soooooo much, that pretty much worked until I was 11 or 12.

Then for my 21 birthday he gave me the set. I actually burst into tears, I was so moved   . Same Uncle gave me my first motocycle when I was sixteen - he's too cool for words!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

A little bit newer than most of the stuff here, but this was definitely one of my favorites -

The pic isn't mine, but its of the GI Joe Mobile Command Center. I got this for Xmas in '88 when I was 7. The thing was HUGE!!! Definitely a lot of fond memories with my friends playing with this monster.
Rock on,

With six kids in the family we didn't get a lot of toys & didn't ask or bug for things...but, my fave memory is at age 4 getting my Barbie doll & one outfit (the only Barbie I would have until I was in my 30s and started collecting them). Wish I had taken care of her and kept her but she was "much loved" and then given to my nieces.
