Masses of people seemed to like it...me not being one of them. My point is that at some time after over 20 years, many genres and several monstrous exposure opportunities, and no hits or radio play, one must deduce that said artist is just an average professional singer. Which in itself is quite an accolade. The problem is that you wanna take Chris Chelios' stats and put him in the same breath as Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. I just come along every now and then to point out how ridiculous that is.

No, the problem seems to be that I would have the nerve to mention Martin and Soto as favorite vocalists along side Perry. Whereas mine are Martin and Soto, yours are probably Gramm and Jamison? I don't know. The ridiculous part is.......so what, big deal? :? I don't recall ever mentioning stats on any of the three singers? That's your thing. I'm in it for the vocals/music, not the numbers. I'm an accountant, I get enough friggin numbers.

Funny enough, I like Chelios (and Iginla, Conroy and Sakic).....go figure. Do I care that they're not Gretzky or Lemieux, nope.

Several monstrous exposure opportunities? Here in the US? :?

The funny thing about FTLOSM is it very much like the grunge music that surrounded it upon release. Dark, brooding, depressive and the keen ability to make you want to harm yourself. It's like Nirvana on Prozac.

Because, this place would be boring as hell! :)

Agreed. Without debate this place would be a wasteland or at least severely lopsided in it's overall view of the Journey's history.

Surely I can't be the only one who finds listening to FTLOSM an uplifting experience. That album is like gospel to me.

LOL. I remember watching an ET special where they interviewed people that performed with Britney and Christina as kids. None of them expected Britney to really go anywhere, because - in their view - Christina was the one with the powerful voice.

He did what he wanted to do. He had been headed down that path for a while. His music was evolving into SP music, not Journey music.

How can you compare it to Arrival? That is a Perryless Journey. I can see comparing it to something he was involved with Journey, but not a CD that he wasn't involved with. Don't hang me out to dry here.. Was he involved with Arrival or any of the songs on it?

i think if i listened to this now i would like it , but hated it when i came out
way to mellow for MY TASTES.

as for arrivial, if an a&r guy was involved and it was released after frontiers it would have been huge.

Arrival was musically excellent, but it was vocally mediocre...very mediocre.

It's RARELY the case. Was "Babe" the best Styx song because it was number 1 and the others weren't? Nt by a freakin mile. It was actually one of their worst tunes.

Shhhh, Saint John might here ya. You don't want him marching in here with his stats arguments. :P

brywool wrote: I prefer the sound of it to Street Talk but I think the writing on Street Talk was better, though I think "Foolish Heart" blows. Boring, loungy tune. Blech. Hated it from the moment I first heard it and couldn't believe that it was a Perry tune. That album could've used more songs like "Strung Out".

Agreed. I don't hate Foolish Heart, just doesn't stand out for me either. Not like Strung Out, I Believe and Captured By The Moment......love those. :)

Foolish Heart sounded like it should be played on Cruise Ships. Terrible song.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I love it. Very reminiscent of some of the 80s Foreigner ballads to me.

Don't listen to it all the time, but it's a great song when the mood is right

I was flipping around radio stations yesterday and it was on. I forced myself not to change the channel. Forced is being nice I guess.

Then I got home and brushed my teeth and felt much better. :P
