Arnel sounds nothing like Perry with perhaps the exception of Like A Sunshower.

Dude, Every review of Revelation has said the guy sounds like Perry, that's what the people that buy this album are going to read or hear, not Us on this site that realize he has his own distinct voice. What was Ellen's big push on her show? That Journey found a guy on youtube that is a doppelganger of Steve vocally. That's where people get there info, not from MR.

He's able to channel him when he wants to (the old songs),

Noooo way. Not on the classics. Not a chance.

Not on your classic. He does most of them really well though. I agree though, SIL is not one of his better songs.

I didn't say he doesn't do them well. (and I'm not only talking about my classic, but yeah, he kills that one) I said he's not chanelling Perry. Perry blows your ass out of your chair when you hear those... Arnel just sings them. Sings well, yes, but missing all that SPECIALNESS.

I'm not talking about you guys. I'm talking about the people in Walmart who were standing in front of the TV saying " Is that Steve Perry?".
And if you don't think that was happening and Ellen never said he sounded like Perry and Neal never said the same thing in the initial interviews after the hire, then I don't know what to tell you. It doesn't matter if we don't think he sounds like Perry, the public perception is that he does, and that's reality.
Remember, they said the same thing about Augeri too, even though we know his sound is more removed from Perry than even Arnel. Perception is half of reality, Whether we like it or not.

That's it exactly! Uniquely Perry. Irreplaceable.
PEACE!

Trivia: Besides WYLAW, what is the one other song Perry has sang that has been nominated for a Grammy?
(loons should get this pretty quickly even though the answer may surprise some)

Street Talk contains Perry's biggest hit as a solo artist, "Oh Sherrie", written for his then-girlfriend Sherrie Swafford. The song hit #3 on the Billboard charts and the accompanying music video (also featuring Swafford) was a hit on MTV. Other singles included "Foolish Heart" (peaked at #18 ), "She's Mine" (peaked at #21), and "Strung Out" (peaked at #40).
