My grandparents didn't celebrate Christmas, because it wasn't actually known that Jesus was born on that day, so they thought it would be presumptuous and insulting to guess. They didn't embrace Santa Claus because Christmas is supposed to be about celebrating Jesus, not Saint Nick. I understand their stance and reasoning, but that's way over the top in my books.
That is strange, most Church of christ people I know celebrate christmas, but just not as Christ's birthday. The reasoning for not celebrating it as his birthday is because that is not necessarily the day he was born.
They look at it as a fun holiday,Santa included. Don't know what kind of group you grew up in! That is not the norm around here. Don't label the whole by a few.
Sorry you had such a tough childhood.
Could it be that you are labeling the whole by the few 'good uns' that you know...? Outside of Arkansas they could all be lunatics as depicted in that insane video message.
Try because I am a member. Also because I have visited many churches around the U.S. Could it be just a strange off sect like the one in the video? Probably. Extreemist come in all forms. Most religions have extreemist, as I said, don't judge the whole by a few.
Finalfight, do you find me a person who hates Christmas, or have I ever put anyone down for celebrating it as Christ's birthday?
Anyone who has strong religious beliefs is fairly extremist if you ask me. I mean c'mon, seriously...!**
**Disclaimer: I am only joking! As long as you don't believe Perry is the second coming, it's all good!
Merry Christmas Finalfight. Good health and happiness to you too!

I think anyone promoting hatred of their fellow man should be avoided. There are some seriously screwed up folks out there. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannikah(sp?), happy whatever makes you happy day! Just treat each other with some respect! LOL!
