OT: favorite gift received

everyone share your best gifts! What was your best / favorite gift that you received for Christmas

Obligatory mention of just being at home where it's safe, calm, boring, and NOTHING at all is open past sundown. My cell phone rarely gets signal. But it's been so great seeing the ENTIRE family... it was awesome hanging out with my hometown crowd

That makes me think.... let it be said that I do know that these are truly the MOST important things and starting a "what's the best gift you got" thread should not indicate that I am that shallow or materialistic because anyone that knows me will tell you I am FAR from that... the absolute best part of every Christmas for me, for the last 10 years, has always been the family Christmas Eve parties, just because I love my family so much.

But in this time of a horrible economy, a seemingly endless war, personal family drama (we all have that), layoffs and people being lucky enough to be able to fill their tanks just to get to work, I think we all deserve to take a little joy in receiving something that we wanted, maybe something we wouldn't buy for ourselves because it was either that or fill the gas tank and buy groceries... and that was my intent. And I was so exicted about my new favorite blanket that I forgot to explain it that way in the first post.

I feel the same as BJG i loved being with my family & friends.The bag was something i could never afford myself.It just blew me away that i got one.It was a used one but i don't care.It was well taken care of.It was the thought that counted for me.

I got a special message from Jimmy Page, handed to me by my father. Probably the single most timeless and special gift I may have received.

Father (a taxi driver) picked him up two days before Christmas and they had a little chat. Dad mentioned my attempts at guitar and how Zeppelin's albums haven't aged a bit. At the end of his journey, dear Mr. Page asked my dad for a scrap of paper (a map print-out was what was nearest) and scrawled a message on the back for me along with his signature.

It's certainly authentic, as the signature matches that on his custom Les Paul, and I wouldn't call my dad a liar.

Apparently, Mr. Page is well aquainted with the Hiltons (he was buying Paris "some iPods") and is also a cheap-skate with his own kids. He took them to The Pound Shop for a treat.
