Well, The Cars, maybe... However, this was from way back in 1988 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq4xbWpC2nw), so I doubt The Knack should seriously be included in the MR HOF -- pay attention at the 4:00 mark. (Sorry, I just couldn't resist! ROTFLMAO)

Brace yourself, Dr. FU! There's are quite a few "George" moments in the clip. You have been warned...

Once someone mentioned the Cars, I figured anything goes.

I don't even know what Melodic Rock is. I just thought it was a clever name! :P

Not exactly a Melodic Rock Hall of Fame listing, but perhaps this can give you an idea of what Andrew considers some of the best AOR/Melodic/Hark Rock acts/albums: http://www.melodicrock.com/bestof/melrockbestof.html

Below are his picks for the past several years, called the Melodic Rock Awards:

MelRock Awards

· Best of 2008 - this year's awards will be culled from this initial list, along with others that have yet to be reviewed
· 2007 Awards
· 2006 Awards
· 2005 Awards
· 2004 Awards
· 2003 Awards
· 2002 Awards
· 2001 Awards
· 2000 Awards

So, as you can see, surely his MR HOF listing will certainly be much different from those that have been listed in this thread so far.

BTW, in case anyone cares, over a decade ago, this site was originally called the AOR and Hard Rock Hot Spot, until Andrew shortened the name to Melodic Rock.

Thanks, I looked at the list and Steve Perry is the only one I recognized. Are all the others Japanese Groups?

Mostly, from the UK or Europe, however, there are loads of US-based bands on that list that are signed to European or Japanese labels, which is why they aren't widely known about here.

This is exactly why I check his front page nearly every day... For news on stuff that I'd probably never hear about anywhere else. Been coming to Andrew's site since the early days.

MELODIC ROCK FORUM AWARDS

Well the way I see it before we get a Melodic Rock Forum Hall of Fame we need to establish the Melodic Rock Annual Forum Awards. I would propose that those awards have the following categories:

1.The “Too Late” award (inspired by Journey)- This goes to the brash statement of the year which the poster tries to apologise for but cant put the genie back in the bottle
2.The “Crystal Ball Award” (inspired by Styx) – The best prediction made over the course of the year by post
3.The “Be Good To Yourself” award (also inspired by Journey). This award goes to the self absorbed tosser who only talks about himself drawing attention to himself only his own little world
4.No Justice Award inspired by Harem Scarem- Given to the poster who really ought to have been banned a million times, but just always seems to get away with it
5.The Dead Drunk and Wasted Award (inspired by Danger Danger) The best drunken post of the year that leaves the board completely wasted
6.“Queen of the Broken Hearts” award (inspired by Loverboy) award to the biggest flirter on the board who breaks your heart and blows ya away when you try to take the conversation to PM
7.The Eye of the Tiger Award (inspired by Survivor) The message board fight of the year. Cue the music and Roll them Flame Threads
8.The Head Games award (inspired by Foreigner) Goes to the best wind up of the year
9.The Lights award (inspired by Journey) Given to the hottest girl on the message board - that girl poster whose Lights (or jugs ? :D ) just keep shining in yer mind when the Lights go down in the Melodic Rock Forum City,
10.The Forever Young Award (not!)( inspired by Tyketto) – given to the man on the board brags about his youth and prowess in his posts when in fact hiding behind the keyboard is a fat, balding pathetic goon with a beer gut who aint got laid since the night when he saw a new band called Alien Nation fronted by a young kid named Perry that nobody knew
11.The Fleishman Three month wonder award- for the poster who last the shorest time before getting shouted off the board
12. The " King Edwards Fish and Chips in South Hampton?"award. Inspired by a classic RockinDeano post(http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=30637&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=fish+chips)Also known as the Twinkle Toe Faggot Award - this award goes to the wittiest, funniest one liner which sticks in everyones mind

Im sure there are other categories, these will get us started :D
