Katy Perry, Steve Perry .... related?

Are Katy Perry and Steve Perry distantly related?

Steve Perry is obviously of Portuguese descent. His family reportedly came from Pico Island, in the Azores. His father's name was Raymond Pereira, which he shortened to Perry. Katy Perry is also apparently of Portuguese descent, taking her mother's maiden name of Perry, which was changed from Perreira by her grandparents who immigrated from Portugal. (She chose her mother's maiden name rather than her christened name of Katy Hudson to avoid confusion with Kate Hudson.)

So .... Steve Pereira and Katy Perreira, both claiming Portugal as their ancestral homeland. Related?

not sure about the relation but I sure would like to party with Katy Perry.....hell, Steve too for that matter... :shock:
