And by trying to be all things to all people, Obama will get us where exactly?
When Bill Clinton governed like a Republican (NAFTA, Welfare reform et al.) he lost both the Senate, the House, and was still the rented mule of the Right Wing.
Contrast that to FDR, who publicly welcomed the hatred of the "economic royalists", and was re-elected time and again.
There was even a failed White House coup on the part of the monied class.
That’s the kind of name-taking leadership this country desperately needs right now.
Your chance has come and gone.
As others have said, Obama’s first State of the Union address should lay out explicitly, item by item, the crimes of the past eight years.

NAFTA didn't help him, I'll give you that. But, a lot of Republicans (citizens not rat politicans) were against it too. The globalist republicans and democrats wanted that. NAFTA did probably hurt him in the '94 election (Republican comeback). However, the welfare reform wasn't until 1996 and he won reelection that year, so that didn't hurt him and actually probably helped him.

The sad thing was, I hardly watched TV this weekend but I still couldn't get away from him. Even during halftime of the Ravens/Steelers game they had Katie Couric on with her bullshit. I hate mixing sports with politics. That is my and a lot of peoples' get away from the real world.

53-47 is HUGE in popular vote election numbers. How about 365 - 177? You can't spin this. The GOP lost their collective ass. Senate, House and White House. And guess what? The future mid terms in 2010 don't look too good either. The majority of the open Senate seats are now held by republicans. The Democratic seats up for election are in very blue states. Obama is smarter than that. Some of these Liberal talking heads who continue to make fun of Bush piss me off. Enough already. People know what a fuck up and disastrous president Bush/Cheney have been. Why milk a dry cow? It just looks bad- winner kicking emptyheaded loser when he is down.

Obama is focusing on stuff that matters, the future and solving problems. He is trying to do it with class. The Air America wing of the left sucks; as bad as the Rush Limbaughs of the right.

No, they really don't.
The systematic gutting of regulatory bodies ranging from the FDA to the EPA, just for one example, has gone largely unreported.

Right. Right.
They said that about Ford pardoning Nixon, and Bush Sr. pardoning Iran-Contra crooks, too.

The President has to get support and approval from others in office before his ideas and plans can be activated. The American President can't just order things to happen on his own. President Bush has been badmouthed by fellow American's far more harshly then even the hi-jacker's of 9-11 and their supporters in the Middle East ever were. That's quite amazing to me really. Many of the politicians who suppored Bush's plan to go to war in the Middle East are now coming off as though they had nothing to do with any of the decision process that went into going over there. Those types are the real bad politicians if you ask me.

My first taste to this type of activity however was back when returning from the Persian Gulf War of 91'. Tons of people in America were saying shame on me for what I took part in back in 91', yet they didn't even mention the fact that Iraqis invaded Kuwait and relentlessly raped the Kuwaiti women and girls and took the men of the household out and killing them. And that was what got us to go over there in the first place, to put a stop to that and liberate Kuwait from Iraq. Some time right before the invasion of Kuwait, Saddam had publically stated that he had nuclear weapons capabilities by showcasing three nuclear detonators to the media. So with the nuclear weapons claim and the invasion of Kuwait, he was just begging for his ass to be handed over to him, which we gladly accommodated him along with his widely feared Iraqi Republican Guards.

The problem with many people is first they think they know absolutely everything and then their second and final mistake is acting upon their first mistake. On the same line as Dirty Harry with "a man's got to know his limitations." When a man thinks he knows everything, he closes his mind. And then what he doesn't know ends up biting him square in the ass.

The only reason we know he didn't pay his taxes is because he got audited by the IRS.

I wouldn't appoint Geithner.

How many different ways are there to condemn ONE act of horror?

Anyone who thinks extremist mass murderers are deserving of the same level of attention as the de-facto leader of the free world, must have a pretty low regard for the office.

Something about this doesn't seem right...sorry...appropriate considering the message being espoused by the left.

On the Money Trail: Inauguration Perks Go To the Rich
VIP-seating at the "We Are One" Concert Among the Benefits for Big Donors
By JUSTIN ROOD, ANNA SCHECTER, and MEGAN CHUCHMACH
Jan. 19, 2009

SHARE President-elect Barack Obama billed his inauguration an event "for all Americans." But in the nation's capital this long weekend, wealthy visitors are finding themselves a bit more equal -- and warmer -- than others.

Most Americans here to see President-elect Obama make history crammed onto buses and trains, slept on floors and fought crowds and cold. But the wealthiest Americans coming to see the event are enjoying all the perks their money and power ever warranted.

For CEOs and stars arriving by private jet, local airports have shut down entire runways to serve as parking lots for their planes. Officials are prepared to handle hundreds of private aircraft for the long weekend.

Limousine companies have been busily shuttling the somebodies around town in style. Shirlington Limousine's Chris Baker says he has seen a spike in business for this inauguration, as he has for the past five. (Democrats seem to be more last-minute than Republicans, he said. "The GOP has much more advance, prior planning.")

I can't disagree that 53-47 is significant, however, the truth is 47/100 people are not "excited". We see Obama as inexperienced, idealistic.....and coming from a sewer a politics. He's my President now - and I'll start to support him with all my heart and soul, but the BS for him for Hollywood and the Media is so overblown its hard to like the guy right now. The story on GMA of the little black girl walking into that school in Little Rock being compared to Obama's girls first day of school was beyond puke worthy. Also, Obama will stay the course on the Terror War - he has now seen the evidence that W sees everyday - don't be dissapointed.

You are underestimating Palin.....don't be fooled. She said some dopey things and the media was all over it. Don't expect the same mistakes again...and don't underestimate what she has accomplished.

i think this country needs an 'idealistic' leader right now. i'm realistic about what he may be able to accomplish, but so many are feeling hopeful and hope is needed right about now.

sarah palin continues to entertain. she is blaming everyone from the mccain campaign to katie couric for her missteps.

Wasn't she the one that talked about perceived whining hurting women in politics with respect to Hillary Clinton's comments? Sarah Palin has become the ultimate whiner.

The only way that this country and our economic state are going to turn around is to have both parties working TOGETHER for the greater good of this country and it's people!

One man can't possibly do that, no matter who he is. If the Dems and Republicans can just stop playing their tug-of-war games, the people and country would be the best that it can be.

I'm praying... but I'm certainly not holding my breath while I do it either.
