Postby TRAGChick » Sun Jan 25, 2009 12:25 pm

Hey all....

Anyone familiar with this group?

This song came out in June '77....my Future Husband was 15...
....and I was almost 10....listening to Disco, K-Tel Albums, & ABBA.

 The GRAND CANYON of age gaps, if you will....

SO - any of you-all remember them....?

I do. I have an album on vinyl, but the name escapes me now. It was a 2 record set, and it was live. I also liked Pentangle.

The chick can really hit the high notes.

The name of the album was "Live At Carnegie Hall." Take a listen to "Ocean Gypsy."

YES! Nora.. I swear.. I was an Annie Haslam fan from WAY back. That voice... omg..that voice. My music teacher turned me onto that group, and I was sold. I tried everything I could to emulate her, down to pressing on my diaphram when I sang. She still gives me goosebumps.

Songs of Scheherazade... enough said. On that same Carnigie 2-disc btw. Beautiful, angelic, no-way-this-chick-is-human voice. I saw them play live back in... er... um... a few years ago.. yeah..that's it... a few years ago.

I wish I could find the Festival on Youtube, but no such luck.. here's a portion of Scheherazade plus Ocean Gypsy. Woof.
