Agreed. It's weird how the most powerful singers in the world usually seem to be ultra sensitive. After watching the VH1 Journey BTM it is obvious that Perry is very sensitive, especially about the music that Journey made. Neal knew this, and used it as a dagger in Perry's heart when he rerecorded the classics. The only reason anyone would have recorded them was to say, "We don't need Steve Perry - he's not what was unique about this band."

"Neal knew this, and used it as a dagger in Perry's heart when he rerecorded the classics"? LMAO.
I'll give you props for your omniscience and ability to read intent in the minds of others, but Neal has gone on record praising Perry's voice and his contributions to Journey. They may not like one another, but the idea that Schon is some bastard out to screw Perry is ridiculous. Schon seems a little less composed relative to Perry when it comes to press, but when it comes to
actual deeds of bastardry, one could make a case that Perry was worse. Hell, might as well say Perry put a dagger in Neal's heart by scuttling the proposed line up with Chalfant and Valory for purely selfish reasons.
So I disagree. I think the reason they rerecorded the classics is a.) because Wal-Mart told them to do so and b.) to prove that they had a singer whose technical skills were finally strong enough to honor the great man's voice.
Schon knows that he can't just wipe away Perry's impact on Journey; he hasn't even indicated as much that he'd like to try.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'
