Reunion Arena 1983

Postby sonorstks » Wed Feb 11, 2009 1:33 am

Newbie to the forum. I have been long time fan and lurker to this site for the past year or so.
I grew up listening to Journey in the late 70's and early 80's and have been hooked ever since.

My first Journey concert was in the summer of 83 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX. Journey played 3 shows back to back. I camped out in line all night
to get tickets to 2 of the 3 shows. A friend of mine and me sat in the upper level at the top of the arena for the 1st show. I was able to score a single ticket for the 2nd show
and got 2nd row center stage on the floor. I can remember being in disbelief as Steve Perry stood right in front of me singing. I am one of the lucky ones as
I know there are many fans who were never able to see him live while he was with the band.

I was fortunate to see Steve Perry again on the Raised on Radio, Dallas, TX Dec. 1986, and FTLOSM tour in Dec. 94 at Will Rogers Memorial in Forth Worth, TX .

Since then I have seen the band 2 or 3 times with with Steve Augeri, the 1st was in 98 Vacations over Tour, Bronco Bowl Dallas, TX. I thought he did an amazing job. The band sounded awesome. Saw the band once w/ JSS. I admire his talent but wasnt sure if he was the right fit for Journey.

I missed the opportunity to see Arnel when they came to Dallas this past July. The review of the show was awesome. I am grateful for you tube :D
I was disappointed with the Super Bowl opportunity for the band. We have all seen them play so much better. Hopefully it will be written off as a bump in the road.

Looking forward to many more Journey years to come. If hell ever freezes over and the "voice" makes a return. Look for me standing in the front row.
Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Michigan Girl, did you make it to the opening act in 83. Bryan Adams opened for Journey on the 83 Frontiers tour. He had recently released "Cuts Like a Knife." He tore up the stage. Great vocals and guitar. They were one of my favorites back then as well. Good to hear from you!
