Yes, well I'm pretty sure the biggest mistake Perry ever made in his career as a Journey front man, was firing Smith, and Valory. The reason it was so strange is because the band had a winning formula with their previous 2 albums, Frontiers, Escape (Journey most successful records to date) among the fans, and general public. Smith's departure was totally crazy, it was as if Perry's 80's hair got so big it consumed is his mind and body, look at that thing, seriously weighs at least 10 kilos, and I am surprised he got through airport security, carrying that.
OK, and some would argue that Ross is replaceable and so on, but because nothing was broken originally - why go on and break it, did Perry lose the plot?. And I don't think firing them two would of made the album any better, in fact Journey probably lost a lot of fans and recognition because of a such drastic move.
