Questions about Journey bands discussed on this board

What is the difference between a Tribute Band and a Cover Band?
What bands, who play Journey, would you put in each category and why?

Cover bands cover many artists, tribute bands are dedicated to one group or person.

I am talking about a band that plays (covers) all the music, but does not pay tribute to the original artists stage show. So that is the difference, IMHO

Zoo band = Cover Band, Frontiers =Tribute band (you are paying tribute to a particular artist, in this case Journey).

If all you do is sing a catalog of previously released from multiple artists, even if you change it up, you're still a cover band. A tribute band doesn't have to dress up like the original artists, though some do as is the case with a lot of Beatles tribute acts.

James Taylor did a cover album. He sings different artists songs and interprets them differently. He named the album covers because that is what it is. Obviously, he is not in a cover band because his original music dwarfs this one cover album.

Frontiers = Tribute band (and a damn good one) - only Journey in their set

Infinity = Cover band... they do a ton of Journey but they throw a lot of random stuff in too.

Those are the only two I've seen... I believe Evolution would be a Tribute band, no?

Hi Infidelity is a coverband, named for the REO album obviously, but they toss in a bunch of Journey (and Oh Sherrie, too) and a bunch of other bands also.

Those are examples. Haven't seen any of the other Journey cover/tribute bands.

That is my exact point. I think Frontiers = Cover band of Journey Music, and Beatlemania = a Tribute to the Beatles because they give you the show as it was back in the 60's

I think EVOLUTION is more of a true Tribute Band then Frontiers.

Sorry to sound rude, but you really are not listening.

Cover bands "cover" music be other artists as opposed to playing original music.
Tribute bands are cover band who only play music by one specific artist.

Wardrobe and looks may emphasize the level of tribute, but is not mandatory to be a tribute band.

Tribute band means they only play music from the artist they tribute. Wigs, makeup, etc, are optional.

Durian's not bad at all. I love eating durian a matter of fact. I started out eating the durian candy, you know the little white candy that's individually wrapped in white wax paper. The candy is made with native Philippine cows milk. For sure if your trying it for the first time, it takes a little bit of time to take a liking to it. But after I started loving that candy, the fresh durian was a sinch to eat.

With balut, I think it looks and feels a whole lot worse then it actually tastes. Eating tuna and not brushing out the grill makes ya smell like old puss, eating balut and not brushing out the grill will make you smell like ass.
