Gregg Rolie's First Solo Album

Postby Memorex » Sun Mar 22, 2009 9:14 am

Just bought Gregg Rolie’s first solo album. I always had very fond memories of it, but have not heard it in about 18 years (when my album collection was stolen). It sounds pretty dated now. Like he was trying to do a series of 80’s soundtrack-style songs in one collection. Those things were pretty popular back then. I think about a fourth of it stands up pretty good though. More the anti-Roots album though.

Also bought Rick Springfield’s new lullaby album. Rather catchy and relevant for today. Obviously, not something I would listen to frequently but definitely a good one for young kids.

Combine this with the purchase of Grayson Hugh’s first album and it’s been a cool few weeks of new (old) music.

Rolie should get back in Journey double quick. Friga can get out front and strum a guitar or play keytar. Rolie on the keys and beltin' out Anytime when they tour again is what I want to hear.
