You have to stare at a red dot for as long as it takes to zap your eyeball. (less than a minute). As your eyeball is being zapped, it sounds like a popcorn popper and smells like burned hair. When it's finished, this robot voice says "procedure complete".

I bolded the things that made me wanna throw up a little.

:x

THANK GOD I'm the only one in my Family who DOESN'T wear glassses....hell, I have trouble putting EYEDROPS in my eyes.....

Get this...I had my procedure done on a Friday. I went back to work on Monday and I started to feel some pain in my right eye. Felt like an eyelash or something was in it but it hurt worse. So I finally decided to go back to the doctor to have her check it out. Come to find out, a speck of dirt had gotten lodged in the cut. She had to get a pair of tweezers and dig the speck out. She gave me numbing drops before digging obviously. She said when it wears off in the evening I would feel some "discomfort". Well, that discomfort hurt like motherfucker. Felt like I was giving birth through my eyeball. Good thing it only lasted for a few hours.

Question: Do you guys know if they will do it with a stigmatism? I am wearing bifocals now. I really hate them. I only started wearing glasses about 2 years ago. But if I can get employed as a teacher, I might be looking into that for the future. I am not one who likes to watch things like this........can't they knock you out? :?:

I asked my eye doctor about it as I have a stigmatism too and was curious. My stigmatism is too bad, so she didn't advise it. So it probably all depends. I'm totally fine with my contacts or glasses though. :)

The thing that turned me off the most was that you are actually awake for it. LOL, no thanks, if your going to be digging around and cutting into my eye, I wanna be out.

FYI - it's astigmatism (one word), not a stigmatism :) . And mine in one eye was particularly bad, that's why I had to go with PRK instead of Lasik. The vision in that eye actually turned out a little better than the other.

LOL, is it really? I've been saying it as stigmatism all these years.

Common mistake, looks like a few people here thought the same :) . Anyway, wish I had done mine a lot earlier in life, probably would have turned out a bit better. But like I said, I have no regrets - because of my strong astigmatism  in the one eye it was getting harder and harder to find comfortable contacts, and I just didn't want to wear my glasses all the time. The best thing is waking up in the morning and being able to see right away - that took some getting used to!
