A comment under the Perry-sung version of 'Lost Angels' over on YouTube, (since deleted), claimed Perry wanted writing credit for this track for doing nothing but lending his vox to it.
As a result, it was never officially released.
Not to diminish the man, but the rumor of Perry demanding writing credit for doing nothing except singing is not new.
Can anyone shed some light?
I, for one, feel that an exceptional vocalist, this being Perry, who can make a song a hit BECAUSE of his vocals, has a right to call the song his, along with the composer. Sinatra contributed to the writing of only seven of the many, many songs that he made famous with his vocals. " for doing nothing except singing," has got to be the understatement of all things Perry.
I dont care how good a singer someone is, if they didnt write the track, then they didnt write the track.
Show me where Perry demanded writing credits for something he didn't write and I will agree with you but I refuse to accept hearsay.
Well I agree with you. But I'm just arguing against your point.
I can't believe that Perry would demand writing credit for a song that he didn't write. I would have to have the question asked of him or even H.H.
Maybe Cyndy or Lora would know the truth of this but I would tend to believe that it has more to do with his demanding vocal credits than the composing. The man is just not that shallow, imo.
Your right about arguing against my point and I guess that my point was the statement about "doing nothing but singing the song" that made me elaborate.
