OT: More stuff for Chicago Fans....

Postby Art Vandelay » Fri Apr 17, 2009 4:41 am

I know I just posted this as a reply in the "Any Chicago/Citera Fans" thread, but I just purchased the CD from ITunes and just got done listening to it. This might be one of the best CD's I've bought in a long while. CTA is TIGHT! .....

For those of you interested in the classic Chicago sound, you should really check out CTA – California Transit Authority. It includes Danny Seraphine (original Chicago drummer). They do incredible versions of the classic Chicago stuff. In my opinion, this is probably what Chicago would have sounded like now had Terry Kath not passed away.

Check out Danny's playing...the man is amazing. Smooth as buttah!

I think the best song that Terry sang lead on was actually one written by Cetera, Wishing you were here.

Yeah, it wasn't as gruff and gritty as his other vocals. An Hour in the Shower is my favorite Kath song.

Here's an interesting article on Danny that I just found. Turns out that Steve Smith helped him get back on track with his drumming after being out of the game for so many years! Nice sidebar interview from Steve included....

Too bad he did not keep up on his drumming. He was replaced after not being able to keep time anymore. He was replaced on the last couple studio records he is listed on and still could not pull it together. Glad to see he is back in the game!

One of my favorite Kath songs is Dialogue, I know it's a duet with Cetera but it's an all-time great in my opinion.
