I hope not. dont want to see Perry back with Journey. HE needs to do his own thing and besides, the guy isnt going to be able to sing the older material at 60 period. I for one do not want to hear things tuned down even more than they already are on the road.

Perry has moved on. I hope.

What? You would not ever want to see "The Voice" back with Journey again? Thats just crazy. I dont care if Perry has half his voice, the guy is a legend and one of the best vocalists of all time. Even with half his voice, its still better than most people's voices on a good day. It would truly be a dream come true to see Perry back with Journey, and probably would be the top concert of the year.

Hmmm. Part of this I agree with, part of it I disagree with. I agree Perry needs to move on and do his own thing (whatever that is). I disagree with the tuned down statement. I'll admit to being an unsophisticated music listener, so tuning down doesn't bother me a bit. What's the other option? Continuing with this revolving door of younger and younger lead singers a la Menudo? Just so they can keep someone up front who has a high enough voice to sing the older material?

Yeah, but Hugo has pretty much looked like Perry for about 20+ years now.

I agree, I too would not mind the difference of the old stuff being tuned down, for me a I am not a technical music person...I would much rather have Perry in the lead....the whole revolving lead singer is really getting old...I would rather have another TBF anytime.

haha, a good one to start the day.

Hugo does sound a lot like SP singing those songs (albeit thinner voice) and that guitar player in the black shirt looks and moves like Neal (watching them from a distance).

ARGH!

Postby Rocker Chic » Tue May 05, 2009 5:16 am

That's it!... I can officially say now that I positively HATE 'Don't Stop Believing' now!!!! :x

Not only have I been hearing it practically every day for the last few months, I keep hearing it several times a week on that 'Glee' TV commercial, but I have just heard it 3x today and it's only 3:13pm!!!

DSB has just officially become the new "Babe" for me!!!! (Styx fans would understand.) :P

EDIT: Add to the above hearing the 'Rock Of Ages' commercial on the radio daily :!:

It has a different effect on me than it used to, I'll have to admit. Back in 81, it would have me tapping my foot and singing along. Now I feel more like shoving an ink pen into my eyeball.

Yes the song is overplayed......last night I was at a pool party with a bunch of 7 year olds, the music was on at the pool and what comes on other than Any Way You Want It, turns out its the warm up song for the Varsity Swim Team - Go Figure, by the way Perry was singing not AP

Must admit Arnel have a powerful voice -- just from watching the yt videos, and hearing from eye-witness accounts. Like others have said --also not a trained ear here, I don't know what the big deal is having the songs tuned down.

It seems Journey's been scheduling shows around here every year since I've been following them on the boards. I've yet to go see them in any reincarnation ... always thought I would never go see them unless it was w/SP. But, jeez, on July 25th, they'll be coming back and playing right downtown, this time. Sure is tempting to break down my resolve and go see Arnel live. :D

It's not just the looks ... he's got the mannerisms down too ... the way he holds his body, turns his head ... saw him at Firefest (fronting Valentine) and just thought it was eerie ... and not in a good way.

What a bizarre concert! Was it supposed to be a prank of some sort?

Avid fans would know better. But unfortunately the average Joe would not. Should have been billed as a tribute band. Cracks me up the ones swearing it is HIM! Have any of these brainiacs even seen a picture of him lately? LOL!

I agree. Perry should be the only singer they detune for. I'd pay good money to see them with Perry, detuned or not!

Oh, I stand corrected then... To which I reiterate that I hate DSB, so to hear a longer version, would be pure torture for me.
