Depeche Mode New Album and World Tour

Postby jrny84 » Fri May 08, 2009 2:43 am

For anyone who is a Depeche Mode fan, they have recently released a new album titled "Sounds of the Universe" which has currently peaked at #3 on Billboard hot 200 chart. They are also going on a world tour, which includes some U.S. dates, including two Madison Square Garden concerts. Im a casual Depeche Mode fan, but I didnt realize that they are that popular to tour Madison Square Garden two nights. Sorry if this has already been posted before!

Anyways wondered if anyone picked up the new CD yet and what do u think of it?

Depeche Mode was almost as big as U2, but their music is not really suited for the casual fan types. You either like them or you don't.

Good on them, I hope they have a successful tour.

They are a stadium act in some circles. Number three on the charts is not bad at all for a 30 year old Romantic punk band.

They were playing the Rose Bowl before most of the mainstream knew who they were. They have an enormous fanbase!

Love the new CD (and I think I may have posted the video for 'Wrong' in another thread somewhere). In any case, it's a cool video.

I'll have to check out their new album. Mode was one of my favorite bands in the late 80's. Still to this day when I play either Music for the Masses or Violator, I have flashbacks of the nights when I used to walk the streets on Tokyo with my Aiwa cassette walkman listening to this music.

In mid '80s to late '80s U2, Tears For Fears, and Depeche Mode were my favorite bands. Love them. 8)
