Frontiers At Chicago HOB

Jeremey and company came into town last night and played the Chicago House Of Blues. What a great show! The guitarist, Kenny, is off the fucking chain! Man, what a performer. I've seen a lot of Journey cover bands and I've never heard someone capture Neal's "feeling" quite like he does. There were a lot of people in the crowd specifically talking about him, Jeremey and the drummer. The 3 of them really shined. Going unnoticed (but not by me!) was the keys player. That dude can really play as well! All members were extrememly solid and Jeremey had the near capacity crowd singing along all night. When You Love A Woman, Message Of Love, Girl Can't Help It and Edge Of The Blade stood out to me. The "sing along songs" were wildly popular as well and the band was nearly flawless.

Jeremey sent out a shout "to his friend Jonathan Cain" which I thought was really cool. I couldn't help but laugh and think of stevew2 when he did that. These guys are great and if you get a chance to see them do it! Best $19 I've spent all year. Thank you Frontiers for a great show!

PS Jeremey, you have some awfully wonderful fans/friends in Jim, Paul, Lynn and Helen. I chatted with them briefly and they're extremely nice people. It was a pleasure meeting them! Hope to see them/you again soon!

I'm not a big ROR or TBF fan but that said, how do these songs go over at Jeremey's shows as he seems to include them quite a bit? BGTY seems to be the only song pre-83 that gets played consistantly by Journey yet there were three other top 40 hits off of that same album (GCHI, IBAWY, Suzanne). Are they harder to sing or what's the deal?

I had tickets for the Cleveland show, but also had tickets to the Cavs game 2. I couldn't sell them so I ended up going to the Cavs game and saw an amazing ending. But I missed the concert though, until during the 1st quarter, 20562 people sang Don't Stop Believin'. They sometimes play a song and put fans up on the big screen and make them pretend to sing, and the best one gets $100 and this time it was Journey. How did they know it would be such an appropriate song for this particular game!

Thanks Matt, great to see you at the HOB on Friday! Since we had a later opener Friday (the always amazing Dot Dot Dot), we had a stricter time table that night and had to strike IBAWY....We hadn't yet worked Chain back into the set list since Isaiah had made that song his own with his keyboard solo, but we'll get it back in there eventually! We also would normally do Ask The Lonely and After The Fall, but again had a hard curfew of 1230 on Friday. We will be back soon though!

The ones we do from ROR and TBF are Suzanne, GCHI, IBAWY, BGTY, Message of Love, and WYLAW. We also used to do WCTNGOF, but dropped it due to a preponderance of ballads in the set list and the necessity of playing the familiar tunes. I love ALL of those songs, and they always go over for our shows, but we have more space to fill than a typical Journey show, and Journey has to be more selective about what they are playing. I'm impressed they are doing 4-5 songs from Revelation this spring, but I'll bet that number gets pared down during the summer tour as well.

Sounds like you had a great time!! Lebron hit the 3 pointer right at the end of WYLAW and the hall went apeshit. Was a pretty fun time.

Damn, how could I forget the absence of ATL? Too many beers this time around. I'm not sure I've heard you guys do After The Fall... you didn't do it in February did you (I was sober that time)? But yeah, you guys are incredible on ATL... especially you on the outro. Feel like I'm gonna throw my voice out trying to sing along to that an octave lower. One of the underrated "hard" songs in the Journey vocal catalog, at least in my (non-singer's) estimation.
