Should Journey put the poor dead horse that is DSB to rest?

Yes, my cracked ribs can’t take anymore retching (thank you, Constanine)

No they shouldn't put it to rest. They shouldn't have to. It's a good song, it's a successful song, they're still making money off of it, so why shouldn't they be proud of it? I got sick of it for a time too, a couple of years ago, but I got over it.

I know it has been used time and time again in movies and TV shows, and yes, Journey has to approve that... but personally, I find the overuse coming from other places.

Here in Chicago, ever since the White Sox thing, the newscasts use it as background for EVERY sport when a team wins something. I hear that song on the news no less than 3 times a week. And WGN (the worst offender of playing DSB) has expanded it to other Journey songs. When players are traded or on the injury list, they play "I'll Be Alight Without You". Once I heard "Stone In Love" but I don't remember what the point of that one was.

The damn Redwings have taken DSB also, because of the whole "south Detroit" thing. I've heard it every game so far.

So tired of that song.

The discounted version? Is that why you hear Revelation on muzak systems, because it's cheaper? I was thinking that before, why is it that you hear songs from ROR and such that you never hear on regular radio. Do Jukebox and system makers get them at a lower rate because they're not multi-platinum type sellers?

Well, I'm aware the Journey/Steve Perry makes money every time we hear that song, but I think they need to give it a break already... just my opinion!

I hear you. I heard some crazy drunk bitch singing DSB at a karaoke bar last week and I was tempted to walk up front and punt her right in the snapper (but lucky for her I kept my cool instead).

I heard Stone in Love being played on the news just last week. The corresponding news report was about the death of Robert Furcott, the co-inventor of Viagra. :D

Shouldn't they have used "Can Do" for that?

I don't think it's related. The jukebox system at my local bar (I've seen it at others too) puts select tracks (often recently released) on a cheaper list. Only some of the re-records and maybe whatever Revelation's most recent single is are cheaper... no ROR or anything.

Exactly!

And they are proud of it. And well they should be. It's an uplifting - feel better about all the crap going on in the world - pick yourelf up out of your doom song.

Play it again, Sam!

Don't agree. I still enjoy the tune - even after FAMILY GUY, SOPRANOS, GLEE, that Will Ferrell racing moving etc.
