Postby YoungJRNY » Thu Jul 23, 2009 9:11 am

Yes. That's right. Chalk off another death in Hollywood. :(

I am sadly announcing that as of today, the Taco Bell Dog.. Gidget.. has died. She changed the world forev-- come to think of it, Gidget didn't change the world at all.

"Yo Quiero Taco Bell"

And that's all I have to say................... about that.

That may be awhile, they are awaiting toxicology reports to come back-they don't want to dispose of the body until there is an absolute cause of death indentified.

I think a hooker known as the "fat one" slipped to many eye drops into his chalupa.

Controversy over Gidget!

Postby Since 78 » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:52 am

Controversy that Gidget, the Taco Bell dog, sparked emerges
Daily News Wire Services
Updated: 07/23/2009 10:20:03 AM PDT

CASTAIC - As a TV star, she was involved in considerable controversy, though it's pretty certain she never knew it.

There wasn't a whole lot of dialogue associated with her ubiquitous appearances, which featured the line -- spoken in a male voice -- "Yo quiero Taco Bell," which is Spanish for "I want Taco Bell." That sparked some criticism from activists complaining that Taco Bell was relying on Mexican stereotypes.

And earlier this year, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the creators of the ads' central character were not properly compensated for their work, and Taco Bell was ordered to pay $42 million.

None of which meant much to the diminutive, big-eared Gidget, a Chihuahua who had a role alongside Reese Whiterspoon in the movie "Legally Blonde 2" but was best known as Taco Bell's sassy mascot in ads aired from 1997 to 2000.

The owner of Studio Animal Services in Castaic says Gidget suffered a stroke at her trainer's Santa Clarita home Tuesday and was then euthanized.

Gidget's trainer, Sue Chipperton, in an interview earlier this year with the People Pets Web site, described the dog as a consummate professional on the set, the Los Angeles Times reported. But, she said, Gidget had been the victim of typecasting, which limited her career choices.

Gidget was 15, which translates roughly to 90 human years.
