Although I was exhausted after Moondance and a bit hesitant to drive another 900 miles, the organizers allowed me to cover the event on my website so I couldn't resist. The show was great, nothing short of a classic Dokken experience. I did a full write-up on all the bands with photos included: http://melodicrockconcerts.com/?p=1235
Now for the back story! I came with a clear intention of finally meeting Don Dokken, an obvious personal favorite of mine. Before the show I had my eye on a blue van and could have swore that I saw Don poke his head out. I turned around a second later to see that he had just walked behind me and up the stairs to the stage. Rats, my chances weren't looking great.
Then after the show, he came down the same set of stairs - and I was there. I chatted him up for a little bit and he was very nice to talk to. He signed my "Up from the Ashes" CD and was quite talkative with other fans that began to gather around. It was a great little FAN moment for me that I won't soon forget. I had lots more to ask and say to him, but I hope to get all of that out in a phone interview on the website very soon.
BTW, as you will read in the review, Mick Brown is back touring with the band and they are sounding great. Don was his usual self with no exceptions!
