Memorable song

Which ONE song is most memorable to you personally. If no link exists, just mention the song title.

Not so much about the song but its meaning in your life. For me:

One Good Woman - Peter Cetera

Right now, at this point, Eddie Money - Endless Nights.

It's meaning is doubled by the fact that my two best childhood friends' father, John Cesario, co-wrote the song. Very cool, and a great song.

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

My dad was sent to Las Vegas on business and was away when I was born. He called the hospital and refused to hang up until I arrived. While he was on the phone waiting, "Sweet Caroline" played on the radio in his hotel room (I think... or where ever he was... office, job site... I never really asked...lol) and my dad wanted me to be named after the song. It still bothers me that I was robbed of such a sweet story behind how I got my name by my mother who threw the hammer down and gave me a different name (and one I don't even like).

But still, "Sweet Caroline" always makes me think of my dad, who I miss every single day.

Wow, what great story. You were/are always will be his sweet caroline.

That and Shiloh are my favorite Diamond tunes.

Hootie and The Blowfish: Hold My Hand

This song(and band) reminds me of my child hood, driving to vacation every year and spending 16 hours in the back seat with my brother with the anticipation of finally seeing beach side. Every time my dad put in Hootie and the Blowfish, we knew we were close. My dad would open the sunroof (when sunroofs were the thing to do and fresh) and pump his fist out the window while blasting 'Hold My Hand." Everytime I hear it, it brightens my day, and I smell the Ocean water.

Lawrence Welk - Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn

My dad was off in Vietnam so were living with my grandparents at the time. I used to lay under the coffee table watching this. I knew that the Wonderful World Of Disney was up next and the closing song meant it was almost time. Just wonderful memories when I hear this song.

When they brought Anacani onto the show, I was in crushmode bigtime.

Pete Seegar singing 'Midnight Special'. My Dad had six 90m tapes of favourite songs that he made in the mid seventies that he always played in the car, well into the late 90s until they got too fragile to play any more. When he died, I made copies of all the tapes and we played them at his wake; everyone commented about how they remembered driving with Dad and those songs. He loved that song especially, and every time it came on, he'd sing along with it, loudly, passionately and ever so slightly out of tune. Every time I listen to it, I can hear Dad singing along with it, clear as a bell; my sister has the same experience. Brings him home and very close, every time.

My first grade teacher used to play it on the piano when it was time to go home and we would file out of the classroom when it was playing. I was really anxious to leave work the other day and that song started playing in my head.

I joined the US Navy in July 1989. Like every young seaman recruit, I wanted out of the damn place that first eight weeks in boot camp. Two songs kept ripping through my head during July and August. the first was fire lake by bob seger, because alls I wanted to do is get out , go back home, where I d could be wild , buy a motorcycle and have a wild time with girls. The other the song was When you Close your eyes, by Night Ranger cos I was wondering if the girl I went to the high school prom remembered me and thought about me.

of course it was all some big mindfuck that I had imposed upon myself. After all if I did manage to get out and go home, I wouldnt be able to afford a motorcycle and would have a dead end job working at a grocery store. And the girl I left behind, she weren't that good looking, and if I remember right I was in love with her hot sister, who weren't interested in me.

I remember about two weeks after getting to Basic, we had an inspection about an hour after probably our first mail call. After dinner mess, we came back and found all these chic photos on the flight bulletin board, some in very risque clothing. No names attached and the photos disappeared after a day but a lot of guys were scribbling letters home after that feverishly telling their spouses and girlfriends not to send any more provocative pictures through the post.

Then as I got older -

Seven Seas of Rhye by Queen.
That didn't so much move me as hit me like lightning. Wow.
