Journey through the decades...

Postby fredinator » Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:10 pm

I've been thinking about this for awhile so here are my questions:

What are your 3-5 favorite songs from the 70s and why?; the 80s? the 90s? current?

Out of these, what are your 5 favorite songs of all and why?

I'm curious what you all think... Try to keep the number of favorites low if you can...

5. sweet and simple- amazing voice

80s-
1. precious time
2. where were you

4. send her my love
5. i'll be alright without you

90s-
1. easy to fall- love the guitar intro
2. when i think of you- the sentiment, i don't know how to say it... very dear to me.
3. when you love a woman
4. still she cries

2000-

most of my favorites are when rolie was in the band. i limited myself to 5, but could have gone over.

Wow this was harder then I thought it would be...

70's
- Lights
- Wheel in the Sky
- Sweet and Simple

80's
- Stone in Love - Always crank this one up in the Bullitt ;-).
- Still They Ride
- Be Good To Your Self. - Words to live by!

90's
- Baby I'm Leaving You
- Forever in Blue
- Can't Tame the Lion

2000's
- Butterfly
- Every Generation
- Turn Down the World Tonight
- Change for the Better.

Top five over all...

Stone in Love
Still they Ride
Lights
Wheel in the Sky
Be Good to your Self

And I have to add Change for the Better off the new album... I really like that song ;-)...

Stone in Love gets cranked in the Bullitt all the time! Also when I workout I like to play Wheel in the Sky and Still they Ride! Monday's I like Be Good to your self.. A great way to start the week.

I love Infinity, too; I don't know about Captured--do you love the studio version of Just The Same Way as much? I would say I would like to know why you love the Captured version so much and why you picked those 3 off of Infinity vs the others...

(I wonder what a pie chart or graph would look like with the data from this thread :) )

I just love the feel of the live version, Rolie's vocals, etc...I love the studio version, but for me this is my fav.

I love Infinity because it still has some Prog moments like the first 3 before Perry....I think it's a great transition from pre-Perry.

I'll take Patiently over Faithfully and Open Arms 8 days a week.

I can pop this cd in and just let it play.

I find myself listening to Captured a lot in the summer.

So underrated... I love the acapella breakdown seguing into Neal's soloing + Perry's ad-libbing.
