Oz Fox (Stryper) sings DSB

Postby Starrider » Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:50 am

Oz Fox, guitarist from Stryper, covers DSB with a Milwaukee-area cover band:

Notice the similar vocal tonality he has to Stryper frontman Michael Sweet. Probably why they harmonize so well.

Thats the first thing I thought-the similarity to Michael Sweet. Oz is a decent singer. Not ready for Journey tunes but not bad at all.

Surprisingly good. I knew Oz could sing, but didn't realize he could do that well.

Saw stryper live in a smaller club on their reunion tour around 2003. Oz sang on a few tunes and people were pretty amazed that his vocals were soooo much like Michaels. They also play guitar very similar as well which is why their dual leads are so awesome. Both very talented and underrated musicians. Oz and Michael are one of my favorite guitar duo's from the 80's rocker type bands.

Cartman's version is the best.

This is the 2nd time that I've been very surprised by guys in Stryper. I wasn't aware until recently that Michael Sweet was a pretty good guitarist and now I know that Oz Fox is a pretty good singer also.

There was a period in time (around 1992) when Michael Sweet left Stryper and they continued without him, touring some clubs in Europe. Oz Fox sang lead vocals. There used to be some video on YouTube of him singing leads, but I can't seem to find them.

I always thought that when I saw live video of Stryper, they were using backing tracks for their vocals. It sounded like Michael Sweet was singing the backgrounds while singing leads, but it turnes out that it's just because Oz sounds so much like him.

Michael and Oz are both pretty good guitarists. They have a lot of songs with dual lead guitars.

True about Oz taking over lead vox for a while, and I never knew that until later. He does sound amazingly like Michael.
